Google Maps puts it at a 1.6 km / 20 minute walk.

Heron Junction, Brookfield, or Riverside Park would have all been better names.

IMHO.
First of all... Mooney's Bay is the name of the closest neighbourhood located just south of Brookfield. Mooney's Bay is not just the name of the park/beach.

Secondly, the O-Train station is located right beside the Canada Post complex, which is considered close enough to Mooney's Bay Park that the Dragon Boat festival parking is located there.

The area south of Brookfield is called 'Riverside Park', not exactly easy to access on foot from the station location even if many call the area Mooney's Bay.

I suspect it is because they didn't want confusion with the new Confederation Line (not that the new name is without confusion ).

That is the reason for the change.

There are still a couple of trains that will announce the stop as Confederation.

"Mooney's Bay Station"
-- Name is very wrong, considering the location of the station. "Heron" would be better.

Why is it hard to access on foot? There is a pathway that goes right to the Brookfield & Flannery roundabout.

It couldn't be called Heron as that already exists. I contemplated Heron West, but that probably doesn't meet some guideline about similar names. Bronson would be reasonable, even though Bronson itself ends on the other side of the road.

Even Vincent Massey or Hogs Back would be closer than Mooney's Bay location wise

How will they handle Orleans Boulevard and Place d'Orleans?

Just rename one or the other to Petrie Island. It's close enough. And why would the beachgoers care anyway?

Place d'Orleans should be Champlain if they are consistent with naming most stations after cross streets.

I'd name Orleans Boulevard 'Bilberry' after the nearby park.

The old Trillium line trains are for sale. Let's pool our money and buy one.

Those would be perfect for a Smiths Falls run. The Cannabis Line? The J-Train? Roach Coach?

Good Day.

They have been up for sale for some time now... almost (if not all of) a full year.
I guess they did not get any fixed-price interest, since this link is now a for-auction notice.

An impromptu commuter service would be << Most Excellent >>. But probably not (sigh).
esp. with only 2 and a half fully working trainsets. (I know it says three, to sell them, but read the details of the status of the trainsets!)

Thx kevinbottawa for the catch. Good one.

But they aren't officially approved to share tracks with heavy equipment.
