A great location exists nearby that they could be moved to. There's a women's prison half a block away that would be better suited as a women's shelter. In a world of demanded equality they need to move the prisoners out into a remote prison on the outskirts of the city instead of a prime location overlooking the river valley.

I'm sure the inside could be renovated to be quite comforting while the outer walls/fence/gating could still offer some security against former abusers looking to re-establish their control.

And just think of the tear-filled photo-op our PM could have as he opens the new shelter.

Now that you mention it, let's hope they up the design factor for Tower B, because from the vista of the photo above, Tower B might partially block the Marriott and Stantec towers from view. It would be nice to have something partially blocking the view, versus the portable a/c design that was floated around for Tower B.

Spectacular shot! Even from the Wayne Gretzky bridge you can see a real difference in height with just the Marriott never-mind the monster tower next door...

Is "Trophy" code for super-tall perhaps? Like the tallest building in Canada? Break the 300m mark? #makeitso

Would be awesome to see a super tall on that site but I have a feeling the lot is going to sit empty for awhile.

Vacancy rates downtown are still relatively high, a lot of new commercial space was/is coming online (there very well might be commercial on the BMO site seeing as its right in the core), residential demand is steady and there's a lot in the pipeline etc.

I really hope whatever is built on the former casino site is truly a showcase tower, however I'd rather wait for the market to pickup a bit and we get a truly quality building, rather then some half assed semi tall building that will be built much sooner.

In investment circles, "trophy" is typically used to describe buildings that attain a premium price for a whole raft of reasons (of which height isn't usually the highest determining factor [pun not intended]), and are what you'd typically find as the highest quality assets in a very large institutional (e.g. pension fund) portfolio.
