^^^ Some campaign donations were probably made that alleviated his concerns...

Wasn't his primary objection to the old proposal that it had a grocery store without adequate provision for truck access? Full-size grocery stores, hotels, and medical office buildings do pose special access challenges. I'm glad the downtown alderman can read a site plan.

I believe that was one of the major concerns yes. And by these renderings, I don't foresee a grocery store (large scale at least) happening as alley photos don't seem to show any loading docks? The alley actually seems rather large and more pedestrian friendly than car. Looking closer I don't even see where parking entrance would be on any side of the building for the multiple levels of parking.

I prefer this design dramatically over the older renderings and think it fits in with the newer River North architecture (3Eleven, Hubbard Place, Kingsbury Plaza, and all the new condos at Wells/Erie & Huron).

I mean, the alleys aren’t your personal shortcut. They’re intended for service functions, which means they will be blocked by delivery trucks, utility workers, garbage trucks, etc from time to time. That helps keep the streets themselves open.

Take a peek before you turn onto an alley. that way you avoid the hassle of having to back out.

The city doesn’t allow dead-end alleys, so there’s almost always two ways to get to your garage.

in my neighborhood we have to have speed bumps in alleys because people treat them like a personal high speed shortcut

This is a fascinating little development. I’m particularly interested in how this will change the view corridor looking down Wabash from north of Trump Tower.

Such an improvement. River North is slowly becoming unfugly. C'mon OCS.

That Ironworker welding the knife connection has the Red Wing Irish Setters on, best boots for squirling the beams. Those and Thorogood's.
