Exactly! I'd like to know what makes them think Carra will stand up for the community. Isn't he the councilor for Midfield Park? I'm sure I could come up with other areas that he's sided with developers over residents if I put a bit of time into it. There are a number of precedents now for what the city actually approves for TODs and there's no reason to think this one will be any different.

On a serious note, being in the inner city doesn't mean you automatically get a high-rise due to precedent. What precedent? The Beltline...is that your precedent? Look, the Beltline or EV, yeah, I can see highrises gong in there. It's all about context, and highrises fit the context of those neighborhoods, also they are within walking distance of the core, so it makes total sense. This area is nowhere near the core.

That said, I don't want density everywhere in the city, only the places that make sense, and this is one of them. Do I want something like this in my neighborhood? No, but that doesn't make me a nimby. My neighborhood doesn't have an LRT line or BRT line in it, and it's not inner city, where a precedent for high rise towers has already been set.

No reason at all to wonder what gives.

That would be you and bad grizzly. You’ve both had you turns at putting down the inner city. You haven’t done it lately but you did a lot in the past, and leopards generally don’t change their stripes.

In this case I was more referring to bad grizzly, jc_ycc, and corndogger - who if I didn't know any better might as well all be the same person considering how consistently they seem to think within their own hive mind bubbles.

Carra already doesn't like the height of the building. He's open to density (like everyone else), but wants it to be done properly (like everyone in the con camp). He won't be on board with this.

Thanks for proving my point about your horrible reading comprehension skills and resorting to character assassination. I've stated numerous times here that I live in the inner city and I live in a condo. I also live very close to a TOD area and I'm sure unlike most here actually have firsthand experience with how these plans are sold to the community. So stop telling me I don't know what I'm talking about.

I've consistently put forward a good argument, as has Corndogger and the others. I don't know about Jcyyca, but I've seen the other posts, and nobody has been difficult or belligerent or sarcastic except for the Toboyoy and X-ting-om and deepstar. And you? It's almost an indication of just how bad this project really is that people who hate condo living and downtown and inner city are so for this project.

I won't be surprised at all if the city allows this and even upzones the density. I would absolutely howl with laughter if the city changed the ARP to allow for something like 30 stories towers and that's what got built. It would be like a big finger in the direction of the Inglewood CA.

Also not sure what happened to Sheddog and O-tacular. It's as if there are 5 people who are really just one.

Anyway, I've said all that can be said. No amount of extra debate and convincing will ever convince the pro camp. I think that even if they have come around to our way of thinking, they've dug in their heels so deep, they aren't going to admit it. It's a lost cause.
