More specifically, the article states $20 billion "over two decades"

Still.... WOW !

Betting both Amazon and Apple take note of this

Don't want to burst anyone's bubble-- but a data center doesn't mean much to a corporation looking to build a headquarters.

MetLife: 17th & Spring

Heard from a credible source that MetLife is actively working on development at 17th & Spring. This has been a proposal since 2007 and last rumblings were 2016, but now there is a new design that is apparently a big departure from last rendering (which I can't find at the moment).

I posted a Vimeo video 2 months ago from Cooper Carry (architects) that showed a low resolution version of the project. It has since been taken down. The office tower looked at least 30 stories.

That looks awesome. Almost doesn't look real in the skyline.

On a side note, has anyone else noticed that the 1100 Peachtree building always has lights out on the crown. Can they not keep up with that? It looks so in skyline shots. Even in this photo you can see some of the lights are out.

Looks cool....but still kind of like a giant building was started then they abruptly stopped near the bottom. =)~

Those buildings at street level, though, look really amazing - very big city. When CODA is done, that area will look big league.

Yes. While I full well understand our linear and edge city development pattern, it still makes me wonder how Downtown, Midtown, Buckhead and Perimeter Center would look all joined together. This is just Midtown!

Project in Atlanta's Gulch to go before review board

Quote:
Developer CIM Group is expected to present their proposal to a development review committee meeting for Special Public Interest District 1, which represents downtown. The meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. at the offices of Central Atlanta Progress at 84 Walton Street.
Quote:
The team, CIM and city officials have discussed a downtown entertainment district for a few years. It would bring a mix of uses and include shopping and dining similar to L.A. Live outside Staples Center in Los Angeles or The Battery Atlanta outside the Braves’ SunTrust Park.

But the CIM concept is considerably larger.

Documents submitted to regional planners and first reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution show the Gulch land carved into 18 parcels. The concept included at least nine skyscrapers that will be 225 feet or higher, including one rising to 500 feet or about 40 stories, according to documents filed with the Atlanta Regional Commission.

Facebook's proposed Georgia data center campus could be biggest investment in state's history

It also mentions Amazon and Microsoft are looking at Atlanta to add data centers as well.

Quote:
New details reveal Facebook could plow more than $40 billion into a planned data center campus over the next two decades. The project, sprawled across 416 acres in Newton County, would create about 500 jobs.

Here is the previous proposal.

Saw a sign posted on Suntrust at the Anthem site that they are moving out Feb 6th. Look for this project to start later in the month.

Still looks like dirt though, that Hard Rock Hotel. You would think having a location directly across from such a prestigious sports facility would be cake for a paltry 250 room hotel. The developer must entirely suck.

I wonder if this could be the kick in the seat of the pants Dewberry needs to develop his site on 17th between the Peachtrees. I doubt there will be any movement on his sites further north until the onramp to the Buford-Spring Connector is reconfigured.

A kick in the seat of the pants would be merger between Dewberry and Fuqua and they would take over the Opus deal. I'm not serious.
