There is a tenant obtained sign on the Aerosoles that basically just went out of business on corner of 17th/Walnut St.

Anyone have any news to what is coming to that space. I walked past the new CB2 store today, they completed the facade and it looks great.

No, but I think it may be a bigger footprint. The adjacent store on 17th is also leaving. Would not be surprise to see a tenant knock down a wall and take both spots.

That makes sense, I am guessing you are referring to the old Jewelry store that is adjacent south of Aerosoles on 17th?

In thinking about what the City needs in terms of 'new' construction, especially from a gov't backed agency, I'd say parking garages are at the bottom of the list, if they make the list at all.
Once again these comments point out the near uselessness of the PPA. How do they manage to continue to exist is not a surprise, but an example of how the City and the State continue to play mindless silly pointless political games in a age where new clear thinking is needed.

Agreed. Thinking that Center City needs MORE parking is almost as outdated as Jeff Sessions' marijuana views. The fact is there is a glut of parking, as evidenced by the number of garages demo'd in recent months. The trend is fueled by our growing reliance on Uber and Lyft - a trend that will continue to grow. Where do they find these clowns?

The Science Center just tore down a garage to put a high-rise up. Just about every single surface lot in the Science Center now has a proposal associated with it. Obviously they do not want more parking in the area, at least not of the kind the PPA would provide.

We need to be moving in the direction of demoing and replacing lots of the outdated old garages we've got, especially along Sansom. Not building more new ones. I would've hoped that the PPA would move to a market-based system like what San Francisco's got and started to wind down its physical assets (neighborhood lots, garages). This is going the exact opposite direction.

This is what you get when you have a suburbanite try to direct the policies of a city. Clearly one level thinking. The same can be said for SEPTA. SEPTA's priorities for capital projects are not properly skewed and this is in large part because of the way its board is composed.
