Atlanta, GA - expensive, too much traffic, HOT, airport too far away
Austin, TX - HOT and it's in a very Republican state
Boston, MA - expensive and too much snow
Chicago, IL - expensive, cold, shootings
Columbus, OH - the middle of Ohio. Nobody wants to live there.
Dallas, TX - see Austin
Denver, CO - why is this here? It's still the west.
Indianapolis, IN - just no.
Los Angeles, CA - why would anyone choose here. Expensive, congested, and west.
Miami, FL - cheaper these days, but lots of weather issues and you'd better learn Spanish.
Montgomery County, MD - expensive
Nashville, TN - a real possibility.

It's between Raleigh and Nashville. Raleigh has access to water.

What kind of water access does Raleigh have to water? And too HOT in Atlanta, last time I checked it gets much hotter in Raleigh up through DC and Philly than ATL..Airport too far, really????

No matter what's in the cards with Amazon, January and February is always the best time to buy a house if you can find what you need. Maybe late summer as well. In Atlanta 60% of houses are sold from March through June.

Too bad prices are up past pre-recession levels. Upper 200k for one bedrooms in reynoldstown is not a housing market I enjoy. I’ve debated buying in west view just at the chance for some return. I’m not sure many of the areas truly warrant their asking prices at the moment other than Atlanta having limited intown supply in walkable areas.

Amazon isn't looking for the biggest city. They are looking for some place that will meet their needs and it doesn't surprise me that mid-sized cities like Raleigh and Indianapolis are under consideration. Miami is the most surprising finalist to me only because it's seems so foreign to that city's current economy. But I have believed from the beginning that HQ2 could easily go to some unexpected city because this is such a game changer for whatever city they choose.

You can still get pretty decent housing in South OTP for less than $200K (new construction even). But yeah, it varies. I know in North OTP, you're not going to find a decent home for anything less than $300K.

That's why I'm bullish on Newnan and Coweta County really taking off over the next decade or two. Between Peachtree City reaching maximum capacity, the new hospitals that were recently built, the 2 new freeway interchanges coming online, the recent I-85 lane expansion and the satellite college campuses that have set up shop, it's going to be one of the more desirable places to live for those who can't afford the city proper or the Northside. It has the rare combination of still being affordable, yet also being safe with good schools, and it doesn't have Northside / ITP traffic problems (yet).

I picture it becoming an edge / satellite city.
