75 Howard might be stalled due to china cracking down on foreign investments (from what I remember the developer is Chinese), or its in a nimby battle, maybe it's both, not sure

They just got a demolition permit for the parking garage. They also have a site permit. They haven't submitted any addenda.

The surface parking lot at Jones and Golden Gate has been fenced off in preparation for the 1066 Market St project. Been a long time coming.

sure enough, demolition has started...

as seen from the south

while we're in the area, elsewhere around Mission Bay...

the projects on 17th St, on either side of Arkansas

Hooper St is getting a makeover. this is a street that didn't use to have formal sidewalks, and was a major homeless camp magnet. looking west from 7th:

back the other way, where some of the original cobbles are still peeking out

looking east down Mariposa at the little project at Tennessee

slightly better lighting for the east slope of Potrero Hill

815 Tennessee starting to show some skin

I think it spreads more misinformation than it debunks.

My understanding is that "high-quality transit" is defined so low that he'd be upzoning the entire city.

It's easy to set up a few strawmen ("It'll change my neighborhood to Dubai!"), then knock them down.

And I think the answers to some of the questions are false, for example:

Will SB 827 cause gentrification or lead to demolition of existing neighborhoods? [false as to "demolition"]

Will SB 827 quickly change the character and feel of my neighborhood?

Will SB 827 end local control over zoning?

And this one (633 Folsom) is set to break ground in June - From The Registry SF:

http://news.theregistrysf.com/swigs-remake-633-folsom-san-francisco-takes-shape-notice/

And more info from the Business Times:
Quote:
The Swig Co. will break ground in June on the city's only large new office building slated to open in 2020.

The project includes a five-story addition of nearly 100,000 square feet atop a 1966 office building developed by Swig, one of San Francisco's oldest landlords. The existing building will receive a new facade, upgraded heating, air and seismic systems, two new elevators and a new public plaza.

from today's walkabout...

the one that stretches from almost the foot of Van Ness to Polk, across from Jerry's place. I wasn't convinced by the renderings, but I'm starting to think the materials are going to make this one look all right.

Polk side

head-on

there's still quite a bit of scaffolding on the other building faces

but with the sun shining through you can kinda see (Van Ness side)

moving on, still nothing to see above the fence at the Flax site on Market at Valencia

in Hayes Valley, Central Freeway parcel O, at 455 Fell (and Laguna) is underway. looking SE

looking north up Laguna

looking NE

a peek over the fence

555 Fulton, up the street at Laguna, just seems to be a joke. such a mess this one, not even sure they are currently working on it?

and, down the street still on Laguna, a look at the affordable housing component of the large 55 Laguna development

from above, on the grand stair

more context

and since we're up there (think that's the Flax crane again)

the flatiron one at Church and Market

timbad - same here. 150 Van Ness (van ness-hayes-polk) is okay, but I would have liked to have had something more cheery than the muddy tones. Every time I leave the building I am confronted with it. At least there is some white panels on Polk St. whereas there is black panels on the Hayes St. side. It will be nice to finally have some light on the corner as it was a parking lot for the 47 years I have lived in the Fox Plaza. (the city did not replace a street light that was taken out on Polk St. a few years ago when a guy committed suicide & took the light out on the way down).
