Your post says AFTER Devon tower which is what I interpreted it as. So, be more descrivtive next time. And my whole argument was that Devon tower has done little to NOTHING ever since it was built compared to Phoenix in the same timeframe. One tall building does nothing for making a Downtown great. San Diego was mentioned as an example. Vancouver is another. If you would rather have Devon or RSA along with their completely dead Downtowns over the aforementioned cities or Phoenix, then you have a completely different idea of what makes a Downtown great.

Phoenix is doing fine and I have said time and time again that we will get our due tower. But right now is not the time and the market reflects that. And all this is moot anyway, because the FAA has no height limits over 700' in the core. So, why even argue this? It's plane (get it?) irrelevant. The FAA is not going to raise the ceiling for taller buildings here.

There is some activity as of this morning on the northeast corner of Central and Columbus. No clue if it's related to the development that we discussed a few months ago

Yup...rezoning hearing was for 5 floor multi-residential a couple months back. But they have been using that lot for construction of Alta Central. Not sure if this is new movement or old. I'll be Downtown this afternoon and see if it's new movement (I work across the street and see it every day).

If 2018 is the crest of our residential wave, as some are suggesting, maybe we can hope for a counter wave of office construction into 2019/2020

I was thinking the same about offices.

I also wonder with the 1,500 added new employees soon, do the current apartments account for that influx or might there be a few more announcements later in the year to accommodate that number?

Generally I would expect commercial to follow residential.

We have more than enough in the pipeline to account for 1500 new office workers, only a portion of which will live downtown.

This is from the Phoenix Region visibility cam looking towards Camelback Mountain. I know the taller crane to the left is for The Stewart, but can't figure out what project the shorter crane to the right of Westward Ho is for. Block 23 wouldn't be visible from this angle so is it for The Link by any chance?

That is the link, With the speed at which this is moving I am hoping that we get the full scope of this project over the next 3-5 years and have 3 towers.

Awesome! That kinda echoes what I mentioned a couple of months ago, where I said there is soon to be a new demand for office and retail downtown following the housing boom.

Correct. The tower crane will be 400' by the time it is raised all the way. Right now, it's at like 150'. I took a drive on the loop around Downtown yesterday and the positions of Link and Stewart and even AZ Center's residential tower are going to be making a tremendous impact on what the skyline is going to look like. Very good gap fillers. If only Derby would be a go. Sigh...

I would still hold out on declaring Derby dead, as long as they are still in a legal battle there is still intent to build.
