Expect more littering and drug-pushing around the area. They always happen when subsidised housing are created.

I would actually expect the local residents to come out to protest.

I've noticed none of this type of behaviour from the other recent container building at Terminal and Main. Most local residents are in support of this project.

It's great to see a completely under utilized piece of city land being put to work. As my partner works in the area, you can bet we'll both be there to show support for this project. If the new False Creek South area plan is given right support, hopefully it will allow this land to do even better in the future.
Not a complaint or anything...

But 5 years is hardly "temporary."

Given the state of the RE market houses get built, torn down, and rebuilt again in the time frames that the City describes as temporary.

Just to be clear though again - not a complaint, just an observation.

Not just five years, but five plus the option to extend another five years, if I'm now reading correctly.

If the city were to guarantee the removal after a set time frame, then their claim of being temporary could be taken at face value. Otherwise they're just blowing smoke and hoping people won't mind or care.

That area has always been littered and sketchy from the get-go. A few more containers won't really contribute to anything. However, u will start noticing when there is density like East Hastings and Granville stretch.

100%. OV resident here, I have heard literally zero opposition to this proposed MH project. We need more "half-step" projects like this to get people on a path toward stable housing.

Vin, your prejudices are showing. Disappointing comment.

I can't believe these 2-inch thick veneers of punched windows is what passes for podiums these days. Can't we just have no podium in this case?!

Kitsilano redevelopment to displace Moderne Burger, Benny's Café, Kinome Japanese Kitchen, and Aria Florist

by Craig Takeuchi on January 12th, 2018 at 5:23 PM

City of Vancouver's city manager Jag Sandhu told the Georgia Straight that a development permit application was submitted by Epta Properties on August 11 and approved with conditions on November 30 for the site. Once the conditions are satisfied, which the applicant is currently addressing, a permit will be issued for a four-storey mixed commercial and residential building, with 21 dwelling units and three ground-level retail stores.

I really hope the neon lights from Moderne burger are saved and reused. That's a heck of a loss.

Agreed, I always found them pretty cool and unique for Vancouver.

Any indications of what is proposed? I couldn't find anything online.

I saw that this morning. Will be very interesting to see the community reaction, since it is far taller than anything currently in the neighbourhood. I expect this one will get a lot of pushback.

Another JCC rendering from Vancouver Market.ca.

I can't recall how tall the Oakridge Bus Depot buildings will be - maybe 16 storeys?
