I'd have to think that's one of the worst patchwork roads I've seen in the region in quite some time.

It looks really bad. Reminds me of that round glass that 80's Sears Flagship store (Now the Nordstrom) used to look like. Hope they resign it because it looks like a hot mess. On the other hand, it's not generic.

the roads around that area are pretty bad, i imagine they will fix em up once construction finishes.

At least it's not a generic glass box.
I think its design requires other buildings top butt up to it to look good.

Note the comment that the water table is only 1 foot below surface!

The Scott team is busy at Spark @Richmond_BC successfully overcoming the challenges of dewatering
in a constrained space where the water table is only 1’ below surface.

This is a perfect example of building where we shouldn't.

Just because we theoretically "can" make this work, doesn't mean we should.

Terrible idea.

There will be nothing but settling problems here for as long as this building exists.

EDIT: for proof of this, take a look at the units in the build in the back left.

I visited one of these units when it was near new - huge settling cracks in the drywall, and not the drywall joints. Enough settling to tear board.

Multiple places throughout the unit had the same problem.

Its just a poor idea.

Out of the way location, although I guess it's walking distance to Bridgeport Station?

EDIT - There are several other smaller hotels nearby - so there's a cluster effect happening:
(Bing still says there's a Rona there (?))

(Anyone else see a former Interurban/streetcar RoW from Garden City to the Oak St. trestle?
with a potential transfer point at Bridgeort Station)

well i guess they are getting in early, all these hotels. that whole entertainment district. though that are is very old with ditches and no sidewalks. I'm surprised that area is getting so many hotels.

that ROW will most likely never be revived. most of it is being turned into a road and greenway.

That whole area is such a dump. Canada Line has been open for so long and we still don't have any condos around there right next to the station.
