Motors Row Chicago is very nice. I hope they finish restoring the old dealer buildings. I like the old original 1911 FIAT dealer building further south, wich is right across the street from the new Alfa Romeo/FIAT dealer.

Chicago skyline moving up, and out, in 2018

Ryan OriContact Reporter
Chicago Tribune

Quote:
Chicago’s skyline could begin reaching higher and farther out from the city center this year if a slew of ambitious projects get off the ground.

Investors continue drawing up mega-developments, including several that would push into untested neighborhood areas for high-rises. The hearty development pipeline coincides with one big wild card that could virtually assure the continuation of an already long construction cycle: Amazon.

"Also in 2018, expect Related Midwest to unveil a soaring design for the Lake Shore Drive site where the 1,500-foot-tall Chicago Spire was once proposed."

Did the Tribune fire their editors and fact checkers? Didn't know the Spire shrunk 500 feet

Never realized how prolific that blog was. Must take a lot of time. The most recent posts scratch that itch for a page 1 update.

When it comes to the construction industry, our news organizations get the facts wrong A LOT. Makes you think twice about all the other stuff they report on. Fake News is real.

I was bored and decided to go on the Related Midwest website, and found two really awesome renderings. The news section also lists an article saying the DPI will cost $1.2 billion.

Has anyone seen any more renderings of the DPI itself?

All I can find seem to be this half-finished tropical evil lair looking thing:

I would be very pleased if that got built, would be an awesome juxtaposition to River City + the new Ralph Johnson mega development on the other side of Roosevelt.

That is seriously great, but I thought the alderman shut that down? Were there new renderings or plans that I missed?
