Maybe they think that as long as they have a foot in the door, they still have a chance at reclaiming their former North American possessions?

Previously you had to take an Air St. Pierre ATR-42 to Halifax, St. John's or Montreal to connect to France.

Saint-Pierre et Miquelon is a Territory "Collectivité" of France located about 15 miles off the south coast of Newfoundland. The islands might be in North America but the local currency in the Euro and the food and wine.....excellent!

I wonder if they'll start selling Montreal - Paris flights with a stopover in St-Pierre et Miquelon. Not that options are missing between Mtl and Paris (10 direct flights per day, plus many other options that include one stop), but more competition is always good.

I just noticed the price... 1025 euros, or $1550. Not a good deal!

The rumor du jour on the LOT Skyscraper page is that Air Canada's YYZ-WAW Rouge route will revert to a mainline 767. Any confirmation on this?

I can't speak for flights out of YYZ but out of YEG LO is always more expensive by a fair amount.

Here's a random example: YEG-YYZ-WAW June 14-28.
from LO website on LO 787 = $1,925
from AC website on AC 767 = $1,392

And by the above i have just confirmed for myself that it will be a mainline AC 767 which begs the question where does the extra Rouge aircraft go?

It's not Rouge though anymore.

AC 767
- 2-3-2 seating
- seat pitch 31-33
- seat width 17.8
- AC has a better entertainment system vs LO

LO 787
- 3-3-3 seating
- seat pitch 32
- seat width 16.9
- 787 is quiet (from what some say) aircraft vs 767

I don't see much difference. The 767 beats the 787 in some aspects. I have read many complaints about LO's seats but i guess everything is subjective including the food. Still the LO 787 is not worth a 40% price markup vs the AC 767.

I am curious whether the switch to mainline was because
a) the Rouge 767 can be used elsewhere
b) there is enough interest to warrant a business class
c) simply take away passengers from your Star Alliance "partner" LO, LH has been doing this for years

^ I find the 787 quiet and there is something about the air quality on board... I have never felt as refreshed stepping off an overseas flight as I do when it's a 787 that I'm on. But yeah, as nice as it is it still isn't worth a 40% premium.

With TXL, PRG, BUD, and VIE all Rouge summer season and reasonably close by, upgrading WAW to mainline was probably the right choice. If they had mainlined TXL this would have detracted from FRA and MUC.

The route could benefit from small Biz class, but this is another route that could also use premium economy (a class of service on the 787 mainline and 767 rouge, but not on the 767 mainline).

This could also be a bridge year for Rouge. If mainline max8 TransAt flying is popular, then MAN, GLA, EDI and more could move away from rouge. This would free up 2-3 767s.
