But don't think it would be wise to build a bridge or a road as long as replacing the ferry and it's terminals is cheaper. I feel the ultimate goal here is to "get rid of Horseshoe Bay terminal" because the traffic is very bad for both the mainland side and the Nanaimo side. So you'd probably see a proposal to build a new terminal and close the existing one had a bridge been built. Ultimately a fixed link to the Island would probably be built sometime this century if bridges can be built. I just don't see it happening, and there is almost no justification short of development/property/real estate reasons to built it today.
