LOL

Alright, which one of you was it

It wouldn't have been quite so conspicuous if it weren't for the Eaton's logo... that really jumped out at me.

Wow, the CBC actually made a national drama out of this. I swear everytime the CBC grudgingly has to talk about Montreal they interview someone sitting in front of a background projection of Montreal, circa 1976.

Does any other city in Canada have a five-lane highway, virtually a surface-level expressway with concomitant high vehicle speeds, running directly through its downtown?

There are lots of bleak things about Hamilton, but Main Street really does take the cake. It's 6 km of one-way motorized traffic racing through the city at speed, where pedestrians and cyclists fail to exercise extreme caution at their peril.

There have been lots of pedestrian deaths along the Main Street "raceway." These photos really show how awful it is.

Edit: Main St. in Winnipeg looks a bit similar maybe, but I don't recall the lights being synced so that you can race through downtown. In Hamilton the lights are synced to maximize speed along the stretch going through downtown.

Great Montreal and Hamilton photos on this page....that last photo of Quebec is pretty amazing I'd say. It's fairly simple but it has a great amount of balance and depth.

Toronto does. Jarvis is almost identical to that Hamilton street. The only difference is that area of downtown Toronto is denser so one gets a lot more traffic, both car and pedestrian, crossing it.

Yea it's more or less fair to say Jarvis St is similar to a 5 lane highway, except it's a bit different.....especially since it's suburban extension, Mt. Pleasant, is created after the road splits in two just south of Bloor.

By the way, those are gorgeous Calgary shots, and the last two Van photos are incredible.

So does Calgary, 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 11th and 12th are all 1 way streets with synched lights. 4th, 5th, 6th and 9th all have stretches with 5 lanes as well. Lots of people on here hate 1 ways like this, but as someone who does use a car once in a while, I think they are great. Aside from rush hour, these roads all have parking in the outside lanes, so as a pedestrian, you don't notice the vehicle speeds most of the time either.
