Well it would match the Building on the other side of the Shopers, and the 2 behind it.

Not sure if anything because I have seen the replacement of the underground tank(s) earlier.

I'm pretty sure there's a civic ordinance in place now limiting the use of vinyl siding in the downtown area.

A second Starbucks location on Main st would fit well in a newly upgraded Crown Plaza Hotel.

Is that supposed to be the Crowne Plaza block?

Sadly no - that's just a render that Budyser found on the Aquillini website. It's not the Crowne Plaza though.

It would be perfect on the lot across from the Crown Plaza, adjacent the Events Centre... not holding my breath.

T&T confirms that Keating's Tobacco will move from it's current location bordering Robinson Court, across Main Street to occupy half the ground floor of the newly constructed building at 840 Main.

Old location:

New location

They should be up and running in their new location by the first of February. At present, there is no new tenant for the old location.

That is a huge change from the original thoughts of a restaurant going in the new building. I can see another bar or restaurant going in the old meetings location, or rouge expanding into there. I notice on the walk it says Bar/restaurant for sale, I assume that’s the bar that is available from behind?

Not certain but I had seen an advert a little while back, and It looked to be Rouge Premier Lounge And Night Club.

I'm stating this based on the side of the alley the sign is posted otherwise it would be the only other bussiness across KANPAI Izakaya that is a Japanese restaurant if I'm not mistaken.

Here's a photo (from Councillor Greg Turner's FB page) showing the new part of the Riverfront Trail in behind the Roger's parking lot. It appears to include another look off area.

Excellent photo showing the completed expansion of St. James Gate restaurant and boutique hotel.

Retail Talk & Share FB page

As much as we all like to see high quality new construction in the downtown area, it is restoration projects like this which really bring out the character in the downtown core. kudos' to everyone involved!!

Don't get me wrong I love historic buildings especially if they are well maintain, or properly rehabbed. What I, and many others seem to dislike, and would like to see changed are properties like the one siting at the corner of Main, and Botsford, or the one located at the corner of St George street, and Archibald. Both where once beautiful buildings but one seem to not have seen any maintnance on the outside for potentially decades, and the other seem to be a poor attempt at a rehab/revitalisation project.

I Love the SJG Hotel & Restaurant project it's one that has been done right.

Latest requests for variances, and latest renderings for the proposed brew pub on the NW corner of Main & King:

Quote:
Group Lebouthillier on behalf of/au nom de Galco Atlantic Investment 413 rue Main. Street, Moncton (PID/NID 00681148) a conditional use to permit a billboard sign in the down town/ un usage conditionnel pour permettre un panneau d’affichage à l’intérieur du centre-ville (File/dossier 17-41335)
Quote:
Acadian Construction on behalf of/au nom de Galco Atlantic Investment, 413 rue Main Street, Moncton (PID/NID 70622402) variances to increase the front yard setback for a building addition; to provide a non-traditional material on part of the north facing wall of the new addition; to increase the flankage yard setback / derogations pour augmenter l’exigence relative à la cour avant pour une expansion du bâtiment; pour permettre l’utilisation de matériaux non traditionnels sur une partie de la façade nord de la nouvelle construction; pour permettre l’augmentation de la marge de retrait de la cour de flanc (File/dossier: 17-41669)

In essence, they are looking for permission for new electronic billboards on the side of the building, an outdoor patio area (next to the proposed atrium), as well as landscaping and a small addition to the north side of the building. It seems like they are making good progress with how they want the building to ultimately look like.

Another request for variance to allow new signage on the Lasik MD building on Main Street.

It's a small thing, but new lighted signage can go a long way to livening up a streetscape.

I like the look of this rendering. Is there anything on this lot presently?

I agree, it's wonderful to see projects like these going on downtown. We need to keep it up!

I just looked on Google Street View - it appears to currently be a vacant lot (which I'm surprised at, I didn't think there were any vacant properties along that section of Universite).

It's been vacant since August 2015. If I'm not mistaken the house, or what was left of it was knocked down after a fire. It was ther same time 225-227 University got a face lift (New sidings, windows, and doors).

But I'm glad to see something is planned for the land.
