It's by Cressey and it's 2 towers. West tower is approx. 19 storeys and east tower 35 storeys. Tons of retail space across the 1st level.

Oh okay, if it's to the south of Metropolitan, then it is the Cressey project.

Two towers, one 37 and the other 20.

Did either of you guys actually look at the photo? It's clearly right beside Chintz and company, which is not on 12th ave.

Ah, I see now. That's this. https://www.google.ca/maps/@51.0431154,-...5H0rlUlQ6thTJLqvOCm7g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

I thought this was what was being talked about being demolished as there was talk on skyrise this section was being taken down.

Guess it's both areas. F2 and former Maria Tomas were still there though last I saw.

Out of all the skyline shots of Calgary this angle is my favorite.

You can thank Suburbia 100% for that. He single handily drove away the best contributors (surrealplaces, chadillac, fusili, etc).

Not sure why you guys keep dumping on me. You look through the thread, even months back, and I was a minor part in all of this. Whenever I called that out, I generally got 6-7 posts unfairly dumping on me. When you look at Surreal, he's making an income with the competitor, and I'm hardly a shareholder there. You guys need to be fair.

Getting back to construction, I passed by some sites in the university / foothills regions earlier today after some time:

The first condo building in the University District is up to floor #3. It is wood construction, though I supposed we shouldn't be surprised with that.

They've also re-opened west campus way - it is now all pavers. I'm curious how pavers there will work after a full season of Calgary's weather cycle.

The cancer centre site has tonnes of activity. There must have been like 20 pieces of equipment there, including large coring machines and what looked to be pile drivers (or what Daemon refers to as "piles machines"). With the site cleared, you can start to appreciate the scale of this thing.

The parkade in front of foothills hospital is starting to come together, and is full height for most of the site now. There seem to be three entre portals, one facing the special services building (facing south towards the current cancer centre), one facing the main building, and a third that is still coming up facing the north. There is already glass up on the portal facing south. It is not the most sightly parkade and is rather very much function based - basically doubling the capacity of what was there before.

There also seemed to be construction prep on the north side of the main campus. Not sure what that is exactly.

[EDIT]

Here is the November 7th construction update for the University District:
http://www.wcdt.ca/assets/Uploads/Construction-Update-2017Nov7.pdf

What I previously referred to as west campus way is marked as university avenue in this. I should add that the pond on the NW corner of the lands (kitty-corner to Market Mall) is basically all formed now (other than the water). This is a massive construction site overall.

Then contribute some yourself.

Major construction is down compared to years past but there's still plenty of construction happning and by what I'm hearing from construction people/companies I'm in regular contact with, 2018 is looking to be a very good year on the SFH, duplex and smaller condo/townhouse projects.

Myself, I'm back into cabinet installation after an almost 1 year stint of finish carpentry and I've only had 3 down weeks in the last 84 weeks and there is no end of cabinet installation in sight.

Pavers don’t seem like a good idea there. Shaganappi trail heaves a few feet up and down each spring in that neighborhood.

Really just a couple of reasons.

Whenever I posted updates (which is a lot of work, especially since they have to be hosted and reposted) they would just get lost in the shuffle.

The kicker: I went to the Canada section one day and the usual gang was dumping on Calgary, which happened alot but this particular day it was just too much. I decide I couldn't in good conscience support that kind of site anymore.
I would also say that Suburbia hasn't been very trolly for a while as well.

I'll add that Chad's leaving had nothing to do with Suburbia. He left because of the Canada section.

What goes on in The Canada section? I only ever see things about Toronto.
