Isn't that the site of the old World Trade Square project? I'm pretty sure it was going to be somewhere around there.

I fear Samschick's vision exceeds his financial ability.
And that's fine if the project gets off of the ground. We'll see what happens with that other development.

No. The World Trade site is between Callowhill and Noble... the same site that the Renaissance Plaza project has been proposed for like 5 years.

And that's fine ... if the damn things get out of the ground. But as of right now I'm skeptical anything will happen until proven otherwise.

I haven't heard anything about a park on that parcel but it is interesting to note that much of that greensward doesn't even have a property address associated with it, much less an owner.

An Amazon logo is seen inside the Amazon corporate headquarters on June 16, 2017 in Seattle, Washington. North Carolina all in on race for Amazon's HQ2
5 Hours Ago | 01:45
If Amazon plans to stick to the stated criteria for its coveted second headquarters location, it may want to look south, at least according to a new CNBC analysis using data from our 2017 America's Top States for Business study and the Census Bureau.
The analysis gives high grades to a number of southern cities, including Atlanta, Raleigh, Charlotte and Greensboro-High Point, North Carolina. Other strong contenders are within the Washington, D.C., area, including Northern Virginia; and Austin, Texas. All have strong workforces, reasonably good economies and business-friendly regulations.
Meanwhile, some of the more sentimental choices, such as Chicago, Pittsburgh and possibly Detroit, may have a tougher go of things. And some locations that submitted headline-grabbing bids, such as Tucson, Arizona, which sent Amazon a giant cactus, may not want to get their hopes up.

A major aspect of the RFP is a strong transit system. If that truly is an important thing they are looking for, then it pretty much removes most of these options. Philly is the cheapest big city that has a subway/regional/strong transit system.

Why in *the* HELL are they lumping Pittsburgh and Philadelphia together?

This is exactly why everything (even positive slanted pieces towards Philly) should be taken with a grain of salt. Statistics and all of the other data can be spun in a million different ways for some nobody to spit out an opinion piece on where Amazon should land. The simple fact that the author grouped several major regions that are hundreds of miles away from each other is a clear indicator that they wanted to "force" the results.

IMO, those BS metrics will have very little to do with Amazon's HQ2 selection. The decision will be made on the basis of COL/Total Startup Cost and mostly, which city contributes the most to support the startup (i.e., the biggest BRIBE). *** Notice how easy it is to not repeat and repeat the entire BS list with a reply.

That article was some of the stupidest 🞵🞵🞵🞵 I've ever seen. I mean, how the does does Philly and even New York have an F in talent? Better yet, why does virtually everyone have a D or F in talent? What the hell does that even mean? And how could Philly's location be anything other than an A? We're at lest the top 5 best connected city in the country. Oh, probably because Philly and Pittsburgh are lumped together. That makes about as much sense as counting "the Northeast Megalopolis" as a city. How does Austin have an A- in location when its in the middle of the freaking desert? How? What? Why? 🞵🞵🞵?

Summary Grade: Article = "F"; Author = "F"; CNBC = "F", for publishing such unsupportable garbage (not at all unusual for them).

Well heres the latest fun facts for all you statistical gurus to play with .
If wikipedia knows it's 🞵🞵🞵 from it's elbow , the city population from the
2020 census bureau should look like this .... moving slowly , but in the
right direction .

So if I did this right , Philly should reflect a city population of roughly ,

1,582,000 to start the next decade .

The figures below show the historical population over the last 100 years .

1920 1,823,779 +17.7%
1930 1,950,961 +7.0%
1940 1,931,334 −1.0%
1950 2,071,605 +7.3%
1960 2,002,512 −3.3%
1970 1,948,609 −2.7%
1980 1,688,210 −13.4%
1990 1,585,577 −6.1%
2000 1,517,550 −4.3%
2010 1,526,006 +0.6%
2016 1,567,872 +2.7%

Neat...so we will be at 1990 population. So...it took 20 years to make up for 10 years of decline.

Here's an interesting analysis...it took 50 years for us to go from peak to minimum. At our current growth rate, how many years will it take for us to return to the peak levels?

So let me get this right; according to these stats Seattle which is the current headquarters of Amazon is on the list to be the 2nd headquarters of Amazon to?

That makes no sense!
