I agree. So cool that such behemoths are rising from the ground. Incredible seeing so many 40 plus story towers going up in the Brentwood area. These three are 50-stories +, which is what I like to see. Keep it coming.

Those red panels look out of place.
Maybe it's specific to the tenant's branding (i.e. Puma)?
(or a disease that's already spread to the car in the foreground).

Further back in the project there looks to be a lot of blank walls, but they've done a good job of making other blank walls (backside of curved theatres) look interesting, so hopefully should be okay.

Driving into Brentwood from Lougheed/Boundary and the skyline is becoming quite impressive. I can just imagine what it'll be like in 5 years once Gilmore is built up as well. Move over Metrotown, I think Brentwood will have the most impressive Burnaby skyline.

I think it's still a while away from that happening.
I mean, it's not like Metrotown is just standing still while all this is going on.

If Concord are able to get the Sears site project off the ground and get those 7 towers built out, along with the completion of Station Square and then the Tower row at the south of the Mall and sktytrain line along Beresford,....you'll still have a lot of density and height in that area coupled with the high ridge location of Metrotown itself.

Maybe once Brentwood gets Amazing Brentwood done, and Concord Brentwood also gets built out along with Gilmore then we can start to see some more fair comparison between the two.

That's all great, but I think Metrotown is overrated and underutilized and Brentwood has so much more potential. If they want to truly make Metrotown Burnaby's downtown then they need to get a heck of a lot more aggressive with density and plan for a cluster of Western Canada's tallest towers. Wouldnt that be great?

Also from Hwy 1, since there are long views of it.
You can't see Metrotown from Hwy 1, so Brentwood will be more prominent from that perspective.
And for Lougheed, the curve in the highway means it's just a fleeting view, although the buildings will be closer to the highway.

I definitely feel the opposite. I still don't really get the hype over Brentwood. It'll be a bunch of really tall condo towers around a fancy mall. Metrotown is still the recognized heart of Burnaby, and has the history behind that. Established patterns of activity are difficult to buck. Shifting a city centre isn't as easy as having a nicer looking mall.

While approaching the Willingdon/Lougheed intersection from Still Creek Drive/flyover(?) along Willingdon, the Solo (?) building at the corner does look quite impressive at night. And we don't even have Amazing Brentwood totally built yet. I can't say the same of any driving view approach to any highrise yet in the Metrotown area. I'm speaking of the view while driving through here, not just the buildings alone, to keep my comment here in perspective. I'm not disputing Metrotown's 'downtown' aspirations as it's been around longer, or developed earlier after all (before I raise anybody else's hackles here). Lol! This is just an observation people. hehe! (And actually, I'd rather Metrotown be the downtown... and keep Brentwood a bit different. Hehe!)

I don't really care which one is better, I just love the fact that both Metrotown and Brentwood are going really tall, and they do look really good by complementing each other. I like to be able to live in a high rise tower in a very urbane area and yet able to look over to see another cluster of highrises not too far away. Burnaby is doing the right thing by creating dense neighbourhoods (or planting skyscrapers everywhere, but in a planned manner). I think the mountains are the ones which are overrated.

Both Metro and Brentwood already have a skyline that look better than many of Canada's larger cities like Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Halifax, etc. In case someone disagrees, I'm only referring to the towers, and not the shorter historical buildings.

Agreed agreed, and soon to join these two, Lougheed Town Centre and the top of Burnaby Mountain, to a certain extent. I would also regard Southgate/Edmonds as one cluster.

Both Metrotown and Brentwood have a lot to offer and will compliment each other nicely. Metro is the undisputed Downtown of Burnaby. The three office towers at Metro are the difference between the two. It has a 20 year head start, wgich has allowed this to happen. Metro is like Downtown Vancouver and Brentwood like Yaletown. That is the way I see it.

I am just happy to be living in a city with a progressive vision, and one that is set to allow over 100 towers to be built over the next thirty years. Will be impressive once Concord starts building at Metro and Amazing Brentwood is completed.
