I just stumbled in here somehow. I live in Austin. You guys are quite entertaining, I might have to come back some day when I think we get too testy with each other on the Austin threads. You guys make us look like saints Anyway, I predicted and announced early on in our similar thread that I believe Atlanta would get the 2nd HQ. I hope ya'll do. Just my opinion, but I don't think we can handle it. Its too big for us. We can't even keep up with the 150+ people moving here each day. I've never been to Atlanta, but I'm a fan of the city, the Braves, and Falcons. Nice skyline and I've met quite a few people who recently move here from Atlanta, nice people. I rooting for you. You can handle it better than we can. I think Amazon will give Austin an "Honorable Mention" in the end.

As we've already established, the below article discusses how HQ2 could be a boon for homeowners. It focuses on black homeowners specifically (since they make up roughly half of the region's homeowners). The estimated gain could be as much as $10 billion over a decade.

Folks on the Southside in particular (whose home values haven't appreciated nearly as much as those on the Northside) would benefit from Amazon HQ2 landing in the Gulch, Turner Field development or even Aerotropolis.

Just as I asked Atlantaguy above, please demonstrate 1 time I have ever bullied or even responded to one of his post that wasn't directed at me first. Not to mention, I have repeatedly asked him to stop directly responding to my posts. The bottom line is this has got to stop. One of us needs to be banned and I ask you to please act.

In what world would a SANE person be justified shooting their "bully" without taking indirect steps first. Conversely, if you felt I was "bullying" you; you should have reached out to a Moderator. The reason you didn't is because you have been targeting me since I joined the forum - for one reason or the other.

To help provide the Moderators validation I am bully, I think the onus is on you to go back and demonstrate examples where I have attacked you when you didn't strike me first. Given the number of times you have labeled me as a "bully", I would expect this to be an easy task. JC - this response would have been totally appropriate like two days ago. However to make this comment without addressing it to a named individual or individuals, leads me to think it is at least directed at me (and maybe others). The fact is Atlantaguy and OmahaRocks have accused me of being a bully and I have received Private Messages stating said person is going to get me kicked off the forum. If this was happening to you, I suspect and I would EXPECT you to defend yourself.

Personally if I ever saw you (joecool) being disrespected by someone on this forum without merit, I would step in to defend you (which I did when Atlantaguy and others were attacking Scania).

I certainly would never step in after all off this "bullying" dialogue and threats occurred and make a blanket statement:

Hey there- love to visit my friend in Austin. As you can see we have some 'passionate' people on the Atlanta forum. For what it is worth, I hope this excercise boosts transit projects in cities across the country. I know the transit system hurts Atlanta for the Amazon competition, and I'm sure Austin feels the same way about their transit situation . I know many in Atlanta look at Austin for a great riverfront, music, food, and weather. Either way, I appreciate the comments.

it was reported yesterday that the DOJ is demanding TW sell TBS/CNN as a prerequisite for the merger of ATT & TW:

Part of the Austin forum as well, the transit system in Austin is a frustrating topic for sure. All of us I'm sure feel that not enough is being done. I don't know much about Atlanta but the transit system in Austin is terrible. Ya'll have a way better airport than us too. I fly through Atlanta on Delta all the time and have to say that I'm jealous.

Personally, I see hq2 going to Atlanta. You are geographically set and have the mega airport already set up for a hq. Atlanta is a nice city as well, or at least I thought it was when I visited!

The decision probably won't come till well into next year but the excitement is real! Whoever gets the hq will have a lot of bragging rights

The other would waive all sales taxes (other than those for transit, education and water / sewer projects). The non-exempt sales taxes would be collected in the form of an infrastructure fee.

We can handle this. Any offset in sales taxes would be more than made up for by the new employees moving in, along with the huge amount of additional business travel generated by landing HQ2.

Not to mention the massive spin-off effect of the construction alone.

And frankly, these "incentives" outlined in the article seem more like sweeteners to me. I can't wait to see the meat and potatoes of the package that was offered.
