I like those ones better than the fully enclosed ones.
With these, you can at least see the trains coming.
Also interesting that the gates are so much wider than the doors on the trains.

i actually DID see the railings being painted on the Granville Street Bridge about a month ago. on the NB finger from Hemlock, going NB on what would be the drivers side right before the turn with the terrible crosswalk. looks nice with that part painted.

Haven't rode the new skytrain line to Coquitlam yet but I heard it takes 45-48 mins to get from Lincoln Station to Waterfront. Is this true?

Google Maps is saying 48 minutes: 33 minutes to go from Lincoln inbound to Commercial inbound, then transferring to the Expo Line, and 9 minutes from Broadway inbound to Waterfront.

That seems reasonably accurate based on my daily commute between Coquitlam Central and VCC-Clark.

I think it's great that the Seabus terminal may be open to private ferries.

I think a regular Seabus-type route would do very well connecting downtown to Gibsons and possibly Sechelt. Also a passenger-only ferry would be great to Nanaimo. Even one to Courtenay/Comox is feasible as is Parksville as it is not much further than Nanaimo as the crow flies.

I think previous iterations of the Nanaimo harbour link ferry have docked at the Seabus Terminal.

Came across this video of a MKIII on the Evergreen Extension due to work in the tunnel
- as a shuttle short-turning at Burquitlam Station
- wrong railing through the tunnel on the outbound leg and switching back to right rail after the tunnel.

How come the train went waiting when approaching Moody Centre Outbound both trips towards Lafarge?

I think that's where the computer decided the route started and ended, so it stopped there to reset the destination.

You'll see this happen frequently at terminus stations, or the second station from the terminus if the train was crossed over (i.e., Commercial outbound or Lincoln inbound). Normally it happens while stopped at a platform with the doors open though.
There are also two stations which are set up to force swapping which on-board computer is in control: Edmonds outbound and Inlet Centre outbound, conveniently both right before the tracks leading into the yards.

I hope they will build at least this station to the full length...

Yeah it's come up before. Young healthy people haven't tended to be too keen on adding public washrooms while seniors, mothers with young children and people with health problems have been. The stations have staff washrooms so expanding that to public washrooms wouldn't be impossible. I know there were comments about adding somewhat private outdoor urinals but that would only help men.

I believe in the past TransLink has said they're open to having public washrooms at SkyTrain stations as long as it's the responsibility of the city (or another business) to maintain them. Hence things like the self-cleaning public washroom at Main Street, provided by the City of Vancouver.

I like the idea of the standalone self-cleaning washrooms.

I wonder if those can be installed inside the fare paid zones - like the one at 980 Howe St.?

They are nice and small too, so they are relatively easy it seems to roll in prefabricated and fit wherever you got an out of the way location. That I am aware of, all the major stations are already equipped with water and sewer connections for their ancillary spaces.

You mean that one that for the last five years I've been unable to get the $*@%ing door to open? I swear it's rigged to not actually operate, even though the little screen says "PRESS AND HOLD BUTTON TO OPEN DOOR". You are better off shuffling your way through The Bay to their bathrooms or pleading for mercy at the A&W at Commercial/Broadway.

From The Buzzer Blog:

What’s an example of a research and analytics program your team is doing?

We’re responsible for ongoing measurement of transit ridership, traffic volumes, measuring the customer experience as well as how the public sees us.

A major project happening on right now is the Regional Trip Diary, which is a very large scale survey we do every five years or so in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. The Trip Diary is the most comprehensive source of information on overall travel patterns in the region and is used by all public and private sector planning organizations. It is like the transportation version of the Census.
Guess what showed up in my snail mail today. Later in that link it mentions randomly selecting people - I almost wonder if they picked me 'cause I e-mail them all the time.
