And on marijuana, Kenney said if it becomes legalized on the timeline the federal government is promising, his goal as prospective premier of Alberta would be to do "everything possible to keep marijuana out of the hands of youth and adolescents... the science is clear, that frequent consumption of marijuana has a retarding effect on adolescent brain development.

Is this something that anyone actually thinks is a pressing issue anymore?

His other pressing issue is outing kids who participate in gay straight alliances to their parents.

Sadly I'll take the sweaty pig over this ventriloquist dummy though.

Unfortunately Kenney stands a better chance of not completely fucking it up before the election than Brian Jean would have. Here's hoping another "Lake of Fire" quote squeeks out the buttcheeks (er I mean mouth) of one of the former Wildrose back benchers in time for Election day.

I cringe at a Canada where both Jason Kenney and Patrick Brown are Premiers. But Kenney has already taken more positions on issues in two weeks than Brown has in two years!

I'm assuming they think the Angels will fight off other street gangs? Weird perspective to take.

^ that's what the polls say, anyways

Me, I'm not so sure. For those of us who actually think the NDP has done a halfway decent job, it's better to just keep silent and let the cons shriek hysterically about how bad the NDP are and how Rachel Notley is ruining the province. it's not even worth going down that road. On voting day those of us who don't share that minset will silently cast our ballots, then we'll see how it all shakes out

I’m in the same boat but not as confident as you are that Kenney won’t win. People blame the NDP for the shitty oil market, lack of pipelines and everything else that isn’t their fault. The stupidity is astounding! The NDP were elected in protest of the PC’s. Hopefully anyone with half a brain will see the UPC for what it is: the new PC party.

That's the plan: the UPC is the new PC party. The strategy is that they've swallowed the WR, eliminating it as a competitor. The only reason the NDP won is that the PC and WR were splitting the vote so the NDP managed to sneak in in the middle.

Now that it's a binary PC vs NDP election, the hope for the PCs is that WR voters will (mostly) go to it rather than to the NDP.

I think there was some bad blood towards Kenney from the WR side actually. The distrust was so great that they made a big deal after he won of saying that there was no sign of vote tampering.
