It's interesting, but I have been thinking that the third and the shortest tower is turning out much better than the other two taller ones. Especially the tallest second tower is looking very bland at the moment. Fortunately it won't be that visible once all five have been completed.

Does anyone else think that the temporary wood on the building look amazing and would love to see something like that incorporated into a real highrise somehow someday.

I went by today - it'll be awhile until it's listed as under construction as they've just barely started digging the parking. I'm betting the 106 bus drivers are oh so happy about McKay being narrowed to a single lane each direction while they're digging in the center of the road next to this.

Some people find it hard to believe, but skyscrapers produce an upward draft alongside them, visible in this morning mist photo of the Sovereign. For this reason it is not uncommon to have mosquitoes even on the penthouse level during summer.

technical note:
tall buildings create up drafts and down drafts depending on conditions. Winds also both press and 🞵🞵🞵🞵 on facades, depending on angles. And, winds that hit tower faces or corners can create vortices and turbulance on the opposite (trailing edge) side, very roughly like a wing. The most noticeable are down drafts that can knock pedestrians off their feet. This is a rare instance, and has become more so because towers often have disrupting structures (awnings) or are built atop pedestals. From a structural design point of view, the suction issue is usually the critical one.

As far as I know, mosquitoes avoid drafty places. They don't like to be blown around.

On my sub penthouse suite (38th floor) I have recently got black flies flying around my balcony.

Plenty and even on calm summer evenings. For some reason very rarely during the daytime, though.

They appear both on our 46th floor patio as well along the straight wall. It was the same also on the 45th floor of One Wall Centre in Downtown. There is no keeping windows open after dark, unless you like chasing mosquitoes all night...
