As a Canucks fan tonights game was very satisfying for a couple of reasons... One, the Penguins had just lost to the lowly Oilers, so they were going to come Vancouver firing on all cylinders, and 2, Boeser getting a hat trick in only his 16th or so game in the NHL. Horvat made things happen. All round good game.

Even though my Jets lost in OT. We still picked up a point to become the number one Canadians team. And we still have 2 games at hand compared to most teams. Never thought we’d actually get it together this year.

Pens beat the Oilers and lost to the Flames the following night.

Boeser is legit. Him and Tanev look like two pieces you can really build a team around

I'm still buzzing after last night's Canucks game. Young guys look great. I feel like they're where the Leafs were a few years ago, and look at where they are now. Been a long time since I've been optimistic about hockey, finally watching games is fun again.

Check that. The lowly Flames.

The Sedins are doing absolutely nothing offensively. I dunno. Is Horvat a #1 center? He looks like it half the time. We still have some blue chip prospects in the wings. Might have to change my avatar back to Canucks logo...

Ya I'm happy to see the Sedins are barely getting any ice time. As it should be.
We've finally moved on from them and our future looks pretty good.

Well they're certainly playing Horvat as our #1 centre. Looks like he just may be.

I do feel for the Sedins though. It sucks to see them playing 7 minutes a game, even when that's maybe where they're best. 2011 doesn't seem to be that long ago.

Still here and I don't get what you mean anyways. A few of us had tempered expectations and knew they weren't playing well for much of the nice start they got off to. Not surprised the loses have started to pile up. In any case it's a long season, the 4 game stretch they just had might be their toughest of the seaosn

Too small of a sample size to say whether it's just an early season funk or something is systematically wrong with the team. We knew the defense wasn't great going into the season, but a huge part of the problem is how many of the forwards have become such drifters in their own end. Can't imagine Babcock is going to let that fly and he's already started using kapanenen and leivo to let everyone know that their job isn't as safe as they might think.

We won 2 games all of October last year and made the playoffs. If you can figure your shit out by Christmas and haven't completely tanked you can still easily be in the hunt.

I know it is still super early in the season, but should a discussion be started about the potential for Edmonton or be in the running for yet ANOTHER first overall pick?!...

3 in a row for the Flames, fantastic game against NJ last night! these guys are starting to pick up their game, and Mike Smith is still going strong! a bit nervous about Lack though, he's not getting any ice time and I don't know if Smith can start 70 games this year...

Edmonton is already getting better, they should be a bubble team.

Oilers are in a huge hole, about 6 points out of a playoff spot right now. they have about 2 1/2 weeks to climb into contention or they are done for the season. Just when they show signs of life they crap the bed again. I figured they would come down a bit from last season but they are horribly bad this year, right on pace with the 2015-2016 team in terms of points. (they are actually one point behind that pace currently). Brutal and frustrating

And all the Oiler fans scoffed when I suggested they wouldn't be as good this year. Loving it!

Big three-way trade on Sunday between Ottawa, Colorado and Nashville.

Ottawa gets Matt Duchene (from the Avs), Nashville lands Kyle Turris (from the Sens) while Colorado gets a bunch of draft picks, prospects (from Nash and OT) and Andrew "the Hamburglar" Hammond (from the Sens).

Flames are currently in a 7 way tie at 16 points. Whoever wins tonight's game jumps to 5th in the Conference.
