Yea.... pg1 hasn't been touched in ages, and is in desperate need of some love.....

There's been so many new proposals, my bet is that an updated pg1 would look very different now than in it's current state.

Yes, you are correct - will attempt a large update this weekend. Steely Dan and iamhydrogen deserve praise for updating page 1, and for gaps that may have missed by me...and many thanks to all of the talented photographers and sleuths that have contributed so much to this current iteration of the thread.

Edit: Holy crap, we're at almost 500 pages..and this v7 has only been around since August 2015. So. Much. New. Development.

2. Pritzker Park
3. Spire site
4. Lake/Stetson
5. Randolph/Michigan NE (Conti site – skinny apartment tower announced a couple years back but no movement)
6. State/Washington SE (former Gap/Old Navy)
7. Clark/Lake NE (shuttered food court)
8. Randolph between Franklin & Wells

There's also the Macerich/Shops at North Bridge expansion at 443 N. Wabash, for which we've seen renderings of the base but not the tower.
Should the Old Town development be on the front page as well?
One tower underway, two additional towers due, and the original plan was reworked without much published detail.

Thanks. I know it's no easy task. And I'm sure all of us will very much appreciate the big sacrifice of all of your person time. Given how much as been proposed and started construction, pg1 is a great resource to keep a general idea of the massive scope of our current boom.

We're lucky to have astute mods and forumers in the Chicago thread.

I wonder if the wall of windows on the Stevens Building to the south is complicating development on the Old Navy site? If Stevens Building owns air rights over Old Navy, it would make any potential tower skinnier, more expensive and less feasible.

Boutique hotel is probably the best play there, but it's not gonna be the uber-hip brands that are going to Fulton Market or River North, there's just no nightlife in the Loop. Second best option would be efficiency apartments above retail, but I don't know if the apartments would be cost-effective.

Walking home from work last night I spoted a soil testing rig planted in the Rock and Roll Mcdonalds parking lot with cones around it.

My favorite quote from the article:
Quote:
the Fulton Market District is on track to add more than 20,000 new jobs, 800 new hotel rooms and 3,500 new apartment units over the next 24 months, according to real estate brokerage CBRE.
The fact that Fulton Market will be adding this much development in only 2 years cannot be understated. Fulton Market has basically become a new CBD in less than 5 years.

The Fulton Market/West Loop should have been a hotter office market than River North a decade ago.

I was wondering about the cranes visible from the main branch bridges now. You'll definitely be able to see 210 from there

There's a crane base in at the Hayden or whatever it is that's right South of McDonald's. Should be getting yet another crane up in the West Loop.

All I know is that I'm salivating at what my rents are going to do in my Properties right off the Pink Line as these office buildings all start to open next year. The West loop requires a new side of the city to develop as both the Blue Line and Red Line are inconvenient to the area. Sure you can get off at Grand or UIC and walk, but everything is clustered around Morgan and now moving towards Ashland. Red Line all bets are off. So that basically leaves the Pink Line since the Green Line is too scary for most yuppies.

Getting ready to install the crane base - I had anticipated a complete demo first. putting in foundations under 2 or 3 floors of structure/parking will be challenging.

Ready to make their own footings

A view that will be lost .....

Fret not. Think of it as a few dozen new views created on the upper floors of this building... All of which will undoubtedly be vigorously defended by their future owners should someone try to build anything obstructing it.

Sorry for the overly large size and the weird phone-panorama stitch artifacts.
