The city is paying for upgrades to the turf. The stands are a separate issue and would be done privately.

The 16-0 vote is the most impressive bit to me. I'm shocked they all voted for it. There were some concerns over parking which is a bit odd given the fact that the stadium is in a highly urban area within walking-distance for a lot of the target demographic. Either way, I have no doubts there will be any trouble filling the stadium for matchdays. Bring it on!

In one render it listed both sideline stands as holding 2,500 each, the pub/patio holding 500, and then the last stand holding ~1,000-1,500.

Does anyone know if the Canadian Premier League is going to consist of Canadian-based USL franchises plus a few new teams, or will it be all new teams with CPL teams competing for support with existing USL teams?

I only have two comments regarding that article:

1) - If you are going to compare apples to apples, then if Halifax has a (metro) population of more than 400,000 (which it does), then the Moncton population should be for the CMA (150,000), not for the city proper (72,000).
2) - The reason why the third Touchdown Atlantic game didn't draw as well as the first two is because the CFL was only half-hearted in it's third attempt. The first two games had a full week of festivities preceding the event and there was a lot of hype. The third time around, there was no build-up at all and no community engagement. The CFL was only going through the motions and I think they really wanted the event to fail. They had already made up their mind by that point that they weren't interested in Moncton.

I am not interested in reigniting the "Halifax vs Moncton" CFL fight. That's over and done with. I'm just attempting to set the record straight. As long as Halifax gets a team before I'm too old and infirmed to go to a game, I'll make my way down there a couple of times a year to go to some games.........

It is apples-to-apples in the sense that in Halifax's case there is a single municipality with over 400,000 people. It has one budget and a large capacity to chip in when it comes to a stadium. I agree that they way they presented it is misleading though.

I have to say that I've never really understood the 'rivalry' between Moncton and Halifax. There are things that I like about both, but I would never really compare them as though they are all that similar.

Moncton Casino does get a lot of great entertainment that Halifax doesn't see, though, which is a great excuse to get away to Moncton for a weekend excursion.
