Also... the 1980s called, they said the "tower in a park" idea was already dated 30 years ago. That part of town needs its empty lots immortalized as giant empty parks about as badly as it needs the Brown Palace to be torn down for "more light and air."

Not to mention the site choice - good track record of honest proposals on that site right?
Wow, talk about unnecessarily harsh. I think this was just an exercise in what-ifs and not a serious proposal. Perhaps, you could look at the video on their website. Some people are just trying to contribute to a meaningful conversation of what impact a downtown Amazon might have. I didn't mind the exploration and think that they put in a lot of time to convey a message. And, yes, professional architects usually start with pretty basic massing models. Especially when it is not being paid to do the work.

Affinity, a 12 unit condo project just broke ground in Cherry Creek off of Alameda Ave.

Piggybacking on the "just broke ground" train here, the following smaller infill projects have broken ground on/near S Broadway

Alta Sobo Station (tower crane up)
Roth Living Offices
Former train shop lot for new starbucks (really hoping not suburban style)

I was also wondering if anyone knows whether this is a current redesign for Stranahan's or if maybe just some conceptual plan from the past.

I like the radial corners, brick "pinstripes," and color scheme of the Affinity condos. It gives the building kind of a art moderne vibe.

Would love to see more condo infill projects like Affinity throughout central Denver. But more in the $500k range not $1M+

I love how $500K is the now considered affordable for a condo. Remember when condos where starter homes in the $150-250K range? Pepperidge farm remembers.

You have to go to somewhere like Omaha or Little Rock to find that. It just doesn’t exist in Denver anymore.

Eh, my son recently moved into a significantly renovated - like all new texture on walls and ceilings along with all new flooring. appliances and bath upgrades etc, 1270 Sq Ft 2-bdrm 1.75 baths and an oversized double-car garage in a (not new/upscale) but stable older (1960's) neighborhood in North Phoenix for $220,000.

I suspect Las Vegas is even lower and generally most of the sunbelt states is much more affordable. Is it any wonder the continuing migration southward?

It may take a little more sleuthing and patience but hidden gems do pop up.

Drove by civic center station last night which was all lit up. Im not a huge fan of the design but the fabric canopy illuminates things very well at night and makes the area much more inviting. I think it will do wonders for that corner, assuming they find something to do with that parcel that is either a park or basketball court in the renderings. Once the Colfax BRT gets going in a couple years it will help activate that corner even more.

No real "news" here, but pretty cool to see some of the construction/boom distilled down to a single number for 2017....

"Oh, I love the track lighting"

-House Hunters, circa 2004

Seriously, for how expensive these units are, I'd say the interior finish quality is pretty underwhelming. Perhaps the penthouse units look better..

The exterior finish quality is pretty underwhelming as well. I have to try very hard not to hate this project.

I found this new project on DBJ's Crane Watch. According to the DBJ it's a 7-story, 190 unit apartment at 1301 S. Ulster St.

Rendering courtesy of DelWest

This luxury apartment project is located off of the historic Highline Canal and straddles the border of Denver and Arapahoe Counties.
Located at Parker Road and Ulster Street, Highline Pointe will offer this part of town a luxury apartment option.
This is a bit of an odd yet interesting site for a 7-story project. It lies west of Parker Rd and east of the High Line Canal Trail. Just south of here is a small but
nice neighborhood of single-family homes - on the north side of Florida. DelWest is the developer and another of his recent projects was affordable housing
at 40th and Colorado Blvd. I'm wondering if he didn't buy this land out of the bargain bin some time ago. In any case he's pulled off a zoning coup of sorts;
I'm pretty sure this is in Arapahoe Co.
Quote:
In addition, this development boasts panoramic views of the Front Range.
He's got that right. Just to the west of the High Line Canal lies the Indian Creek neighborhood at a lower elevation.
