Philly's my hometown (born in West Chester) but my folks moved the family to Atlanta when I was in grade school.

For all of us who love this city; this is a great day, a very great day!

To my knowledge only 5 cities in America have buildings over 1000' so Philly is in a rare club. New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston and LA. What a great day.

If they aren't in there now, we can only presume they can be lowered in from the top into the framing.

Pittsburgh is still home to Pennsylvania's largest skyscraper as far as occupied floors and square footage. The US Steel Tower has 64 occupied floors 2,300,000 square feet of office space. Each floor = 1 Acre and is the largest rooftop of any skyscraper do to the lack of setbacks. By comparison the new Comcast Innovation Tower has 1,399,997 square feet.

Since 1950 there has been 31 skyscrapers constructed in the US that contain 2 million or more square feet.

Interesting... I mean I've seen where they use helicopters to lower stuff onto the tops of buildings....

I wonder what the usable sq footage of each is, considering the CTC was designed to be very open and collaborative, while many buildings designed in the 60s-90s are typical cube farms with lots of walls, beams, etc.

I meant with the crane. I'm not exactly sure why that would be easier than installing as the frame rises but there must be some logic behind it. Another thing I don't quite understand is having two levels of cooling towers- they usually are open to the sky so I'm not sure how it would work to have a lower level of cooling towers that are enclosed.

Also with modern LEED standards, isn't it common to build with higher floors than before which would obviously cut down on occupiable space?
