Land development and demolition permits have been ready to issue for several months. They are actively moving forward with vertical build permits with lots of activity in the last few weeks.

Last time I walked by the site, it looked like tenants were still in the building on Piedmont Ave. Haven't heard a firm groundbreaking date but I would expect demolition would begin as soon as the tenants vacate. I may walk by the site today and see if anything has changed.

🞵🞵🞵??

I agree with one of the above posters about some of the ratings...

Zero for job growth? Houston has lost jobs in the petro industry. However, things are bouncing back - with a vengeance.

Zero for labor force education? Come on... there's tons of universities there already.

The rating for mass transit for Houston is too high... it sux there.

I have nothing against Houston. However if we just look at the GDP rate (which is the best Economic indicator of growth or weakness for a city) it is one of just a handful of cities that had a negative growth rate in 2016.

I HATE those GA STATE dorms (on the right hand side of the photo). Every time I drive down the connector I sigh. They look like a prison.

Building permits were issued Wednesday for the Juniper & 5th project (775 Juniper St.). This will take up the entire Juniper Street frontage between 4th and 5th Streets. Demolition and Land Development permits were issued earlier this year.

Yeah when I walked by the building on that lot I saw it was abandoned now so good sign it should be moving forward soon. This will help destroy the pocket of crime and prostitution as development creeps toward Ponce.

The townhomes behind Broadstone Midtown also are under construction, they started working on the foundations.

Pretty funny you say that considering I walked on Juniper from around 6th street to Downtown earlier this week and let me tell you, I have never felt safer walking on that street. The removal of the Homeless Shelter has done wonders for that area. I only saw two homeless and they were harmless so I never felt threatened once. Hopefully development blows up in that area soon. Such a huge change.

Awesome! I’ll be really happy seeing this one move forward! Now if we can get similar developments as Pc for and on the or close proximity to the beltline!

Wouldn't surprise me if it were to convert to condos.

You are correct. In the end... I think Atlanta will likely get it... NYC is too crowded.

Hudzen yards would be perfect for HQ2 so I wouldn't discount the city yet.

Midtown Atlanta offices are currently leasing for under $35.

Quote:
Asking rents for Hudson Yards office space average $90 PSF and include a complete Tenant Incentive Package.
http://www.rentnyoffice.com/hudson-yards-office-space/

$35 x 8 Million sqft = $280 Million per year at full build out (Atlanta)
$90 x 8 Million sqft = $720 Million per year at full build out (NYC - Hudson Yards)

Do you really think NYC - Hudson Yards is worth an extra $440 Million per year for office space than Atlanta?

There's something to be said for the prestige factor of being in New York. They may value that more than the price of office space. Amazon is one of the world's premier companies. New York is one of the world's premier cities and Hudson Yards is a premium development. It makes sense that a company as prestigious as Amazon would fill it.

But I hope I'm wrong.

Madison Yards filed for bulding permits today for two separate multifamily housing projects:

Quote:
Madison Yards- Pad A: 220 Units in mixed use development.
Quote:
Madison Yards- Pad B: 275 Units in mixed use development.
Fulton County property records also show Fuqua/Madison Yards closed on their lease purchase bonds with the Development Authority of Fulton County earlier this month.

"Prestige factor of being in New York" ?
Back in the day, yes. Today, not so much. Tomorrow, likely even less.

Amazon is nothing if not super forward thinking
