Not sure if this means those in the know have a good idea where Denver stands in terms of chances. However, either way, I would rather see us take a higher road that doesn't involve throwing piles of money at a large corporation. That's just my opinion though.

Visit Denver asked him how it felt to be the creator of artwork that became an icon for the city of Denver. “Who would’ve thought?” he said. “It’s interesting – it doesn’t happen all the time, that’s for sure. Before it was installed, I’d tell people that I was working on a 40-foot blue bear for the Colorado Convention Center, and they’d look at me and say ‘What – are you working for Disney now?’ But once it was up they’d say ‘Whoa, it’s amazing.’ To me, it’s kind of like the bear needs the building, and the building needs the bear.”

The Denver site development plan map (https://www.denvergov.org/maps/map/sitedevelopmentplans) was just updated, and there are a few interesting things:

15th & Stout Dual Brand Hotel - 21 stories! I think that's 2 stories taller than the AC/Le Meridien down the street, so that will be some nice density for what is now an empty lot.
Block 162 was submitted in June
IncaHuron - 12 stories in Ballpark, presumably apartments or condos
300 Josephine - 6 stories - haven't even heard about this, but looks like more of the old single-story Cherry Creek retail will be replaced by larger, denser buildings.

A few scattered 8 story buildings farther out - 40th & Inca (annoyingly named Zia NoDo), 18th & Marion, and one on 15th and Julian that recently broke ground.

And a bunch of infill and smaller buildings, including some long-empty lots and great 5-story density in city-center neighborhoods

In addition to the 21 story dual brand hotel at 15th & Stout and the 32 story Block 162 office building at 15th & Welton there are also SDP's under review for these other downtown core projects:
- T2 Hotel at 16th & Market - 11 stories
- 1480 Wewatta - 11 stories (the micro-unit project mentioned a few posts back)

Those would be in addition to the 11 story TCR project at 18th & Market that is already approved and will start construction at the end of the year, and Market Station which just started construction and tops out at 9 stories along 16th St.

Last I heard, Elevation Development was going to do something with this building. They have been doing a lot of entitlement and selling so I am not sure if they will actually go vertical with this one.

Looks like it is on the parking lot next to Ross, across 15th from the Aloft. That lot next to Embassy Suites seems prime for a hotel too, I wonder how many that area can support?

I recall someone mentioning seeing a rendering of Platte Fifteen with the other two planned buildings, but can't remember if the rendering was shared. Well, here's a crappy one from the building site:

Oh, and there's a skybridge going up connecting One Union State and 1881 16th Street so that the corporate types don't have to slum it up with the transients.
