A fifth building? There's barely enough parking downtown and now we're going to lose a perfectly good 5 car garage.

Would this new building go all the way to the corner of St. Mary and Carlton? That's nice green space.

It's a pretty useless green space if you ask me.

I'd imagine they'd leave the grass as is, but with potential for residential and commercial development on site, they could/would probably make it more useful. Like an actual park/plaza space for tenants (/public) to use as opposed to just grass.

-- If you look in the cam picture, you can see where the support column for the skywalk is going in, in front of the rightmost CIBC sign panel.

didn't the initial render of the church addition have 2 towers?

one incorporating the church into it and one beside it by the green space?

Thought I'd save an early morning shot in case some of you aren't awake this early to see what the site looks like all lit up

I cant see the image cause my computer —. But yes it was two towers integrated with the backside of the church. The moved the statue, did some other stuff.

Now with the insider info, sounds like that may change.

That actually looks pretty cool. Respects the church and further encloses the plaza too. I know it's mostly a massing render, but I'm not too crazy on the blank wall facing Carlton though. Looks like it wouldn't look too different from the convention centre's street frontages.

Looks great. This whole project is probably worth it. My civic pride has gone up a bit.

Someone mentioned on a previous page or two that TNSE is involved with the church and they'll be constructing a fifth building on the church site. This goes back to TNSE comments about increased interest in the development at one of their pressers some time ago.

Crazy theory: what if tnse has managed to land some out of town tenant to take the space in this mythological 5th tower and the diocese takes the rest of the space.

^^^ It's going to be a tight fit having 50,000 employees in that proposed 10 storey office building on the church site.

He's joking. "It's probably Amazon" will be a running gag for the next while.
