Well considering that AFAIK there won't be any down escalators in the LRT stations (not sure about Rideau as it is the deepest station so it might be an exception), you will definately need to be yelling 'excuse me' at everyone (even those walking) when you are going down as they will all be going up.

Rideau is supposed to have down escalators to the concourse level but not to the track level.

How dare they. Going two abreast is a privilege reserved for cars (sometimes one parked one moving) on both directions of Elgin!

Well that is better than nothing. The trip down to the concourse level will be the longest one. Getting down to track level is much shorter, but I still think it would be much better to have 2 escalators everywhere. If nothing else it provides redundancy in case one brakes down or needs maintenance.

Is this diagram saying that the Simons elevator will go right down into the LRT station?

That's not at Simons, it's where the old Shoppers used to be (soon to be Score Pizza, opposite Forever21)

No. It isn't that far east. It is near the (former) Shoppers Drug Mart entrance. I am curious if it will only go to the ground level of the mall or if it will go to the upper levels as well. That would probably be too logical though.

How so? It's no greater than ambient volume, just with more jerkface factor.

It's a bit confusing because they overlaid some Level 2 features (the LRT corner entrance) on to a Level 1 plan. Basically Farm Boy would be the top left corner square of the building minus the peach-shaded area.

Humans can barely go ONE abreast outside the dollar store.

Thanks... thought it was something like that... so basically LRT users won't even have to break stride to hit FarmBoy..

Ah. Explains why the work in the former Shoppers is taking so long. I thought it was just going to be a restaurant.

Are we not building LRT to the airport? When you are pulling luggage down escalators are just as important as up escalators.

If I remember correctly, the elevator will go up to the skywalk level for better connectivity with the Freiman Mall. This was deemed a compromise to the City's initial hope (when they re-aligned Rideau Station) that a pedestrian tunnel connected to the station could be built between the Rideau Centre and Hudson's Bay.

So the elevator would have to go where the dollar store is located then.

I don't think the elevator is going to go beyond level 1. It's there to comply with wheelchair accessibility of the LRT from street level, not the mall.

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember something to that effect.
