For comparison sake, here's the same angle-

[/QUOTE]

Although difficult to tell by the renderings, if only one pool is built for all residential units, won't this create a difficult sell for those interested in the more exclusive condo sector?

I second that. And it's right next to a stadium too...

I think the development next to the LAFC stadium looks fine. There's nothing wrong with 7 story developments such as this so long as they use quality build materials and the sidewalk interaction is appropriate. The loss of a hotel here only means that, assuming the demand is there, another hotel tower will get built elsewhere in its place.

Sure, anywhere else except next to the stadium...

This is what makes DTLA so special, its diversity. SF, Manhattan, etc are increasingly becoming homogeneous, and (despite their beautiful architecture and geography) are beginning to resemble the suburbs that surround them.
It's nice that you like those things and I like some of the things you mentioned too. I still have to wear suits to work and look sharp. I love and wear Canali suits, Ferragamo or Allen Edmond shoes. I wear mostly Eton or John W. Nordstrom dress shirts for work. I like CB2 or any cool home store. DTLA would really be special if it catered to everybody. For a large major city it makes no sense for me to get up and have to leave my place and have to travel somewhere else to shop. And as much as you might not like it, the downtowns that have major shopping areas are the ones that do the best.

Despite the lack of interest I'll close the loop. It wasn't a concrete pour, but rather the crane installation for the 28 story tower going up behind South Park lofts.

Ugly and a way too small for a prime location.
I hope that they block it with some new towers soon.

Its hard to get excited about it. But I'll take it. Its comedic how it compares to surrounding projects in scale.

But on a different note with the ghost of the Ritz expansion on the right...I wonder if AEG will ever pull their heads out of their whining A$$E$ and get that thing built.

Caligrad is correct, that's the AEG expansion. The Olympia (re: City Century) towers are 3 towers, not 2, and fill the entire stretch of the street opposite Georgia, from Olympic Blvd. all the way to 9th.

City Center is actually right up against the 110, across from the Cambria, on the Georgia street side. Directly next door and behind the Residence Inn/Marriot is the Ritz Expansion. the Ritz Expansion also has the angular roof. City Center is nearly twice as tall with flat roofs.

You can tell by the Silhouettes

^^^ Its dead but it still appears in future project renderings. Like the Cambria above.

Somebody posted an article or something a while back saying that AEG was considering moving forward depending on whats going on with the convention center redo, i only remember because i referred to it as the biggest corporate tantrum in LA history. But no one knows but AEG. If i remember correctly, it was already given the green light and was months from breaking gorund. So it would be dumb for AEG to sit on empty land and an entitled project that could make them more money.

the area around the marriott hotel is starting to get overly sad for ppl staying in that hotel & in that part of dt. marriott's residence inn hotel, after all, has been open for quite awhile. Love overdue that AEG & the devlprs proposing the Olympia proj give a boost to their neighbors.

those parts of dt aren't helping give a sense of completeness to the hood.

similar to the main thing I got out of this vid.....the parking lot at the NE corner of 8th & fig need to go bye bye.....
