If the former Sobeys at McAllister Place won't be a grocery store, then I could see Sears being split into 3 spaces, with a grocery store going into one of them, probably at the end where the loading dock is.

This map indicates, and seems to confirm, that Marshall's will be moving into the former Sobeys space at McAllister Place, and would be open by Nov. 2018.

The sears does have entrances on all 3 sides, and of course also from within the mall I could see them build a hall way down the middle, and build 3 stores but they would need to add loading docks for 2 of the 3 stores if they did that. It would be easy for the store to the south side of this area just dig up the area next to the loading docks that are already in place and build a second loading dock area but the store space to the north would be a little more tricky. Since there is no distinct Loading dock area, or even any area that seemed to ever have a loading dock. Unless they would choose to build it in the corner where Sears, and the Mall Entrance meet. But it would mean removing all the plants, trees, and a large section of sidewalk area.


But I'm just brainstorming. This would only be an if they do decide to divide the Sears space into 3 distinct store spaces.

Looking at the floor plan on the link above, I might try to get a grocery store at the end of the building, and have it take up all the space up to those mezzanine markings in the middle of the floor plan. (I have no idea what it looks like inside Sears currently, so I'm not sure how feasible that is). That space is slightly bigger than the old Sobeys space, but not too much bigger I'd say.

For the rest of the space, I'd make about 20-25 normal mall store slots, keeping the design they have now. They'd need to kink the hallway to handle how the building is offset, but by eyeball, it looks like they could get 7 store slots similar to the rest of the mall along the walls, and maybe another 6-12 mid-hall store slots. One or two slot might be lost to keep access to that entrances on the north and south sides.

If they can lure another big retailer to take up a big chunk, then the rest could be turned into regular store slots (gaining another 7-10 store slots in this case, depending on if they can keep the middle or not in this case.)

That would be another plan. But with a little bit bit of work they could actually fit 3 larger stores. Grocery Store, Urban Planet, and F21 just as example.

One thing they could maybe do is put walls between each one: the right-hand gate for a store on the east side of the space, the left-hand one for a store on the south side of the space, and the middle one for the store on the north side with a long, narrow storage area to connect to it. The biggest drawback to this, in my mind, would be that the south-end store would be cut off from interior access by shoppers. Could be a good fit for a tenant who wants an exclusive, disconnected space, though, if such a prospective tenant exists.

It's not impossible. They already have such a tenant with Sports Chek at the far end of the mall , on the other side of TRU. Champlain Place has 2 or 3 such tenants as well I think. The trick is to lure them in to the space.

Goodlife and Party City also do not have interior access. As well as Sport Chek as you already mentioned.

The floor plan for McAllister place seems somewhat half-assed. They seem to have just add space out into the parking lot at random, and now the mall is a mishmash of poorly used space, and tenants disconnected from the mall to vie for better visibility from the road.

Looks like MacAllister Mall is losing another tenant. Teavanna has a 75% off everything, with 95% of its shelves now empty. Didn't see a going-out-of-bussiness sign, but otherwise it looks that way. Sad to see.

I noticed McAllister Place is getting a new Tip Top Tailor Big & Tall store. I thought that when they closed their store at East Point that would be the end of that. Nice to see they're coming back.
