Only thing SLC probably outranks Denver in is light-rail passengers per 100,000 people.

I can't find anything to support Salt Lake has even close to a better transit system than Denver. Not even on a same level at least either.

The first and third articles you provide use the same data. The third one doesn’t list either SLC or Denver in the top 10 transit systems.

The first and third articles say that Denver and SLC transit systems are quite close, basically on the same level. Denver has an indexed score of 76.63, while Salt Lake has a score of 72.77. That’s pretty close.

The second article looks like made up nonsense, as they provide no data. Looks like click bait.

Denver has 29 miles of commuter rail, compared to 88 for SLC.

As Comrade pointed out, we have higher ridership per capita on light rail, and I believe overall.

Why do people in the Salt Lake forum care so much about Denver?

I don’t care about Denver, but the Quartz article said we don’t have good transit, which is nonsense.

These are Denver's own statistics. With commuter rail it is about the same. http://www.rtd-denver.com/factsAndFigures.shtml

“This (display) makes it a unique addition to the building and the street,” said Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams.

I'm imagining his halting diplomaticness. "A...unique? Addition to the building..."

I don't know about everyone else, but for me Denver is the easiest city to look to for comparisons simply because I spend a lot of time there and know it better than any other city in the US, apart from SLC. Also, it's the closest major city to Salt Lake (Vegas doesn't count) and there are a lot of similarities. Similar climate, similar geography (sort of), similar recreational opportunities, similar mountain home mindset. The biggest differences are the size of DT and, of course, the people. In my mind, comparing Salt Lake to Denver is kind of like comparing Portland to Seattle.

I wouldn't say Denver transit is leagues ahead of Salt Lake, but in terms of frequency and hours of operation, especially for buses, it is superior. Salt Lake really needs to expand service in that regard and also improve rail coverage downtown with the black line and the 4th South connector. One plus about Salt Lake transit over Denver is it seems far less expensive. I think Salt Lake is doing okay enough on transit that it won't be a knock against SLC for Amazon, but only if the right location is chosen.

I don't understand much about most art- but this has got to be the worst I have ever seen. Speaking of Art have you guys ever read the story behind that evil looking horse in front of the Denver Airport? Freaky stuff.

Ok, 1) that is the ugliest "artwork" ever.

2) Maybe I am missing something but what is going on at the old Mr. Mac site on South Temple? They've laid the foundation now and it looks like it will be a large building.

You guys need to move on from your obsession with Denver. This is one of the few topics that you guys always bring up that is killing the Salt Lake City forum. It's fine to compare two cites, but for whatever reason when you all bring up Denver it always turns into an argument or the mindset of, "why doesn't Denver respect us".

It really is too bad about that art, because I love the design of the building and especially the coloring of the glass.

Maybe, but your obsession with jumping on the forum if there is anything about Denver v. Utah is equally obnoxious. I would invite to add something to this forum other than your obsession with pointing out our apparent obsession.

For me it's not an obsession so much as I know the city of Denver, I like Denver, will probably move there next year (unless I can convince my fiancée to move to SLC), and I think it's fine to draw comparisons between the two cities. Also, I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about not getting "Denver's respect," whatever that means. Who would care about that? There were a number of negative comments about Denver in the midst of the OR ordeal, but that is understandable.

Salt Lake is Denver's little brother, so of course there will be comparisons. Denver looks to larger cities as an example to progress. Likewise Salt Lake will always look towards Denver for progression as they are in the same region and similarities. Denver has been where Salt Lake is and has answered many questions to what Salt Lake is looking to answer. Denver is a great city to mold from as it is one of the most progressive cities in America right now.

Your "Why doesn't Denver respect Salt Lake" thing doesn't make much sense. I go to Denver and Salt Lake both very often for work and I have never seen any such nonsense. If anything Salt Lake will always be a step behind Denver but will always be taking notes from their experiences and city models. Denver on the other hand if I had to guess most people probably don't know much to anything at all about Salt Lake. And those that know it quite well probably know it as Denver's little brother. Salt Lake may not bring in a lot of money on a national scale but it does bring in money to the region which in turn helps Denver. So why would Denver disrespect that?

To disrespect a city seems weird to me. And of course there is reason for the people of Salt Lake to be jealous of Denver to some degree. I mean Denver gets everything when it comes to the mountain west and Salt Lake tends to get a lot of left overs. That would make any city jealous.

Also why don't you ever come on here and participate in the topics discussed that you do like and help keep things on track with productive material or opinions instead of coming on just when you find the thing that you don't like? Like 'Denver to Salt Lake'- I disrespect you.

Edit*- Also I just went and looked at all your post history and almost every single one of them is on Salt Lake and only to complain about something. That shows exactly why you even come on here.

Parking structure for Alta Club. They traded their surface lot across the street with Property Reserve. At one point I think the LDS church said they would use the land next to old Elks Bldg. for a chapel ( the local ward now meets in Joseph Smith Bldg) but that doesn't seem to be announced current plan.

set the rank field to "core based statistical area"
http://alltransit.cnt.org/rankings/

The SLC metro has a great transit system. Where SLC needs to improve the most is within SLC proper. Other downtowns such as Denver are served better than SLC is but the transit for the larger metro is way ahead of most US cities. Hopefully the impending I-15 crisis will motivate us all(especially politicians) to take the next step.

Edit: If we are including Utah County then intra-county transit within Utah County needs to improve the most and it needed to be done yesterday.

There used to be an art piece at the SLC Airport of a nude couple that lasted a bit before Citizens for True Freedom demanded it be taken down because it could incite rape and murder. The airport complied.

Let's get Citizens for True Freedom on the case at the DA building. I'm sure you could find something indecent in those giraffe spots if you really tried.
