The signage for Hop, Skip, Jump is now up at the Wheeler Park Power Centre.

On the list of stores at Champlain Place, there is a listing for Sleep Country (coming soon)

I assume they are going into the old Swiss Chalet on Champlain Street. They were doing renovations there this week.

I was wondering that too.

Seeing this I wonder if they could fit a full fledged IKEA store where Costco is.

I know there where talks, and it does not seem like there would be a large enough population for a full IKEA store but does not hurt to speculate.

As for the Sleep Country is this a replacement store, or brand new? Also the only place I could see it go is the old Swiss Chalet location Unless there are some stores planing on a closure, and/or move with a last minute announcement. Otherwise I don't see anything pointing to it being in Champlain Place itself.

There will never be a full fledged IKEA in Moncton. It's surprising there's going to be a full fledged IKEA in Halifax!!! The only reason why there is this store in Halifax is because it is perceived as being a "regional" store for Atlantic Canada. Even then, there are metros in the US with 2M people which don't have an IKEA. Halifax is a definite outlier.........

Now, a smaller IKEA pick up and order point store in Moncton is a reasonable plausibility. We could see some action on that front in a couple of years once IKEA determines how much business at the Halifax location arises from NB, and particularly Moncton.

I'm sure it's a second location, since their store on Mapleton was purpose built. I'm surprised that Moncton is getting a second location. I'm not sure the population justifies this. If however this store is going into the old Swiss Chalet location (like everyone seems to presume), it will only be a temporary location since that entire plaza will be torn down eventually for a new hotel, likely in the next 2-3 years.

A couple of photos from around Wheeler Park today.

Hop, Skip, Jump signage. Still no word on an opening date, but there are now job postings available on the internet.

New signage for the Roots store. I see that it is no longer being called "Roots73". Does this mean it is now a full fledged Roots store rather than a factory outlet??

Oh boy, when a regional mall starts adding a mattress showroom to their tenant list it only makes them look even more desperate. This will only solidify the notion that they have trouble getting substantial and sought-after tenants. This is not good news, we are going towards the important Holiday season and CF brings in a mattress showroom to fill one of its many voids.

Note: I have no issues with Sleep Country per se, I just think that Champlain is not ideal for a mattress showroom. Temporary or permanent.

Not only it's in a prime location with a lot of foot traffic. Wouldn't be as bad if it was down by Sears or something.

Urban Kids in CF Champlain has closed. There's signs on the doors directing you to Urban Planet.

Really surprised that they didn't keep this open until after Christmas - that's when you have the most store closings at the mall. It makes you wonder if something else is coming along to make use of the space..........

Not certain what will be going in there yet but the stores Square footage seems to match up with most Hot Topic store size.

I heard that Lululemon might be testing the Moncton.. But i hope that we might have all the empty stores leased in the mall. And any developments on the Costco move?

Speculation on Retail Talk & Share - maybe a temporary location (for the holiday season) to test the market. A person who works with a transport company claimed that boxes for "LuLuLemon" are being delivered to Champlain Place.

My understanding is Sleep Country is a popup store for the Christmas season. Will be gone in the new year. Good plan for the company lots of foot traffic and higher sales during this time of year. Make your money and get out no long term commitment like a second box store

I hope with Hot Topic coming to the mall is the start of good things for the city. But do we have an Idea whats going into the old Swiss Chalet and do we have any news on the Costco front? Do we expect an announcement soon?
