I wonder if they could add a spot light effect like that to the infinity tower at the corner of 100ave and kgb. That tower lacks connections to the corner and the large open plaza-ish corner lacks any sort of character

Noticed 32 listings on realtor.ca for property flips in the tower. Most of the sellers will probably claim principle residence exemptions and pay no capital gains tax. It is unfortunate. If LRT is the vehicle to create livable communities in Surrey, real estate activity in Park Avenue is definitely not conducive to make that happen.

The petitioner said they've complained to the city and it's being handled as a generic nuisance report. They raise an interesting point about the lack of a light pollution bylaw.

Or they could try changing the angle of the purple light.

I know we've changed a couple lights here (one because of a change to Led lights) where we've adjusted the light to not shine into people's windows. As far as I know it was limited to a request to strata and no one brought the city into it.

If you don't like lights, move to a rural area.

Found the petition.. this Laura Stepney who started it filed an "Unsightly Property" complaint with the city. LOL

It appears the City has responded and the Strata has agreed to turn the lights off at 11pm each night, but that is still not good enough for Laura Stepney who will continue to fight until they are turned off indefinitely....

I'm curious about how big of a problem this really is. Does it flood adjacent units? Are the lights powerful enough to illuminate the sky? It's a good idea to at least make a token effort at reducing light pollution by not pointing lights straight up at the sky, but it's a moot point if these lights are relatively weak.

Maybe they can diffuse it a bit by installing a translucent gazebo over it.

The irony in this, is that the lights produce an upscale effect to the area which generally keeps vagrants, trash, and druggies away. Turning off the lights shows no distinction or character with the area, allowing free reign of passage for all walks of life, including those who are less savory.

I agree. Some people has a very narrow point of view. All they see are the lights...period. They do not give a thought to any benefits the lights might have, only the negative one because that's all they want to see.

Park Avenue West's parking entrance is a bit awkward. If comes from 100 Ave on to Whalley Blvd, you cannot take a left turn into parking area.
Anyone feels the same?
