I spoke with one of the construction workers on Saturday and he said that the peel and stick will reveal a copper-coloured panel system

Surprised yesterday, when I looked out the window from the 6th floor of the Bay, and there in the distance was Vancouver House (and a few other places too).

I believe the copper is only in the soffits, the rest of the panel system should be a lighter shade.

Here are some pics of renderings that were on the fence around the site back in November of 2015.

Exactly.

Apparently there is a clause in the contract that gives BIG additional control over the look of the finished product compared to a traditional architectural agreement. Given this I expect the tower to look damn close to those renders.

Good.

No bait and switch.

Stoked to see this one finish.

Will be crown jewel of Downtown, until Alberni is up.

Though, of course, that's my opinion only.

Weird that there are no windows facing north in the overhang area.
That may present a largely blank wall to those driving down Howe St.

I was thinking the same. I guess we will need to see a few more floors to really know. So far this looks fantastic. I hope it would a bit more funky name than plain "Vancouver House".

Might be visible from Davie Street for a while (at least until Burrard Place rises) and it will be the more interesting side. I'm thinking the tower might be as high as the top of the cranes?

Super excited about this building.

This is going to be brilliant.

Love the way the individual boxes are coming together to give a really "stacked" look and aesthetic.

Great, great, great.

Hmmm -
those offset shear walls on the north façade aren't shown on the renderings.

The ones higher up seem set back a bit - so windows could be placed in front,
but the ones lower down look right on the edge.

I wonder how they'll be clad? Maybe they'll be built out a bit with fake windows (see pic below)?
