That would be pretty crazy in the winter.
I've always been curious about that also, looking up the hill from Hwy 1.

According to that map of the WEST Ring Road, how do northbound vehicles exit onto Old Banff Coach Road?

They don't.

Very happy to see that the temporary rail crossing at CPR and 22x has been installed and is operational.

This would have made life very challenging for the contractor to get the north bridges installed. And by challenging, I mean virtually impossible.

Plans I recall seeing for it show the hill being dugout quite a bit where the road is going through.

It's not funded, though, and given the state of the province's finances, I am not sure that it is any longer a sure thing that the construction will just automatically roll over to the West leg once the SW leg is completed.

Reading the rationale behind the shorter bridges makes sense. I guess the experts do have some kind of idea what they're doing...

Is there any chance that interchange will open before the rest of the project? It needed to be done and open 10+ years ago not in another 4.

What Acey said.

I do know that they will be moving 22x traffic onto the new bridges at some point next year so they can demolish the existing structures.

I don't know how they are going to accommodate 22x access to McLeod since the current ramps aren't connected to the new bridges. I suspect it will be signalized left turns, but that is not confirmed.

Are they actually going to demolish the existing structures at MacLeod - 22X ?
I assumed they would just repurpose the existing bridge to become the eastbound lanes of Stoney, similar go what was done over the river.

I think your right. This interchange if I recall is similar to the one at Stoney/16ave NE. The bridge that is being built to the north is the bridge going over Macleod for wb to sb traffic. Correct me if I'm wrong

Yes. They are at end of life.

You can actually feel the bridge move when you are stopped on it during rush hour.

Feeling a bridge move is normal. It has to flex otherwise things would just break.

Was driving on NW Stoney today by the roughed out future 14st NW interchange. There was a driller taking what looks like soil samples on the north side. Any word if they have plans to build this much need interchange soon?

Absurd. I see two different possible scenarios here; either the angry citizens of Lakeview actually are correct and the recommended river crossing is not fit for purpose or (more likely) they don't have a clue and the Province is having to hold up construction of critical infrastructure to cater for the whining of uninformed idiots.

I'm not sure which is worse, but I find it cowardly to cave to these people as it is highly unlikely they have a greater understanding of flood dynamics than the engineers who recommended the proposed crossing. This just encourages everyone with a pet peeve to throw a wrench in things.

I have a third scenario: The residents have been against the project from the beginning and are grasping at straws to delay the project until the clock runs out.

How about we call that scenario the truth. They should be sent the bill for delaying his super vital project.
