I took a good look at the brown-ish paneling that is going up on the 4-story retail building attached to the Stantec tower and I like it so far! As always, I will pass final judgement once the project is actually completed and filled with shoppers and diners.

Yeah.... it looked shitty at first in some pics. But up close it looks really good. And if the color stays it will age well.

^ Serious question: has anyone here actually bothered watching these ICE Level vids since the arena opened? I haven't. I was glued to it during construction and was eager for updates, but now I find them a bit superfluous.

Ken King is spectacular himself for his doublespeak and condescension.

We'll just leave, in his world, isn't a threat.

And, we'll stay as long as we can, but ... isn't making this an election issue.

Note to King: Florida and Arizona wish you'd leave ... Calgary is an NHL market on a continent where there are more teams than credible NHL markets.

End of an era. Sad, but Northlands lost its way and this helps put it back on track for its core business - agriculture.

Is the plan demolition?

Where will Northlands operate "from" and with no venues?

I did not have an opportunity to listen to the entire debate but I don't understand why the Coliseum was not also turned over to EDC to operate in conjunction with the Shaw Convention Centre and Expo Hall... even if we "close it", you have to keep the lights on and keep it from freezing. It should at least be available as a potential convention venue and for some it could well be quite a distinguishing offering not available in other competitive markets.

I fully expect the coliseum to be demolished within two years, the opportunity cost is too great to keep it around, it's a detriment to the neighborhood and surrounding properties are already being bought and re-developed now that the parking lots are not needed. Should Don Iveson be re-elected he will face pressure to confirm his commitment to not let the site sit fallow. It must be destroyed.
