I talked to one of the guys setting up the mobile cranes this evening. He wasn't sure where exactly the Pagnotta tower crane was going but he seemed to think it was going to be built in one of the elevator shafts.

drove by on my way to work today and saw the mobile crane taking the red crane down.

Would the contractor just rent this crane and move it over to the condo site. Would make sense unless it belongs to another contractor who needs it.

My understanding is that was the original idea, however, the parties involved couldn't come to an agreement on the transfer of the crane. As well, the position of the crane used for the parkade was not ideal for the condo and hotel towers.

I still believe that there will be 2 cranes erected for the condo towers.

there were 2 boom mobile cranes on site when i was driving by. that was at 11am

A little updated information.

The existing orange tower crane is being dismantled and will be re-erected in a new location. There will also be a second tower crane coming to site.

Right now the base is sitting on the road and they have installed buttresses. Its hard to say, though, if that will be the final position. I assume it needs to be pretty firmly anchored to the ground and right now it does not appear to be:



I heard that given the red crane's previous position and extremely long boom, it could only lift a half-full bucket of concrete at the maximum boom position (not sure if that's actually true):

Both cranes being assembled today. Drove by the sight and they are up in the air. Should be assembled by today or early tomorrow

Yep. They added sections to it. Other crane looks the same from the college hotel. Grey crane for the condo is little taller than the red one.

I am a long time lurker on this board and I enjoy following the progress of various projects across Canada. Since I cycle or walk past this site almost every day I am going to try to document the progress in pictures. I wish I'd started sooner though.

It looks like they are using a different tower top for the red crane in its new location. It looks like it will have a higher capacity than the original setup/location.

I drove by last night and both crane "tops" were installed. Impressive...but maybe just because it has been so long since we have seen anything like that in our downtown!

I feel kind of sad that I am so excited at seeing two cranes at a building site in downtown Saskatoon....haha. Nevertheless, it does make me happy!

dont forget we still have the east tower, and the WTC to begin construction also. it is exciting, more so just confirms that the project is actually going seeing cranes in the air.

im hoping for D/E to be sold soon. im more excited for that parcel

You are an optimistic dude, Mitchellk12!

I have serious doubts about the WTC building showing any activity until next Spring at best. Hopefully East tower starts this fall, but good weather window running out, but maybe once they get all the backfill moved they can start digging!

As for parcel D/E....I wish the City would have jumped on the momentum of Riverlanding No1 sales and offered up the property as potential buyers might have been more motivated. I do hope we see another tower on that site and one that is architecturally unique....just think of crossing Idylwyld bridge with Art Gallery/Riverlanding village on one side and a truly unique tower on the other!! We can dream.....
