How about some nice big plastic trees in this sea of cement called Chicago, make them Palm Trees and they can stay year round.

But not many with leaves year round. It would be a cool idea to have a few fake Palm Trees like a Hollywood set in a few areas. Also more evergreen and pine trees. This place looks pretty bare in the winter.

I'll take the palm tree suggestion as a joke but definitely agree that there needs to be more evergreens. The grey/beige-ness of the city in the winter is really mentally draining.

To each his own, but I prefer the fuller designs to the cutout ones.

Oh! we're voting? The 'cut-out' version is vastly superior to the previous version that to my eye, reminds me of 80's suburban spec office park vocabulary...

The new cutout version reminds me of shiity modern art that people pretend to like to seem more cultured. It's a building that visually looks like it's not whole. I prefer the big brawny boxes that fill an area and have more of a solid presence to the eye.

May be an unpopular opinion, but I actually like the glassy portion of Atrium Village. The brick facade along Wells and Division is awful. The two tone brick looks awful. The colors do not work well together at all IMO. It looks cheap. Precast could very well have been better.

Don't ever voice this opinion in public. We don't need any more of that.
I say traditional styles like real art deco and beaux arts need to make a comeback. But until then, the avant garde, asymmetrical stuff looks like tacky garbage. Give me brawny Chicago box style instead. Something that plugs right into the street grid, a square peg for a square lot.

Here's a little update on the highrise proposals currently in the works for downtown Evanston.

Of course, Evanston is a notorious bastion of NIMBYism, so this is all extremely "wait and see".
