NO...by all means if you want to play by the rules and pander to special interests like any other politician, have at it. Just don't come out against that sort of thing, call out business men who also play that game, get into a law suit over it and then start playing the game and blame it on optics.

How are you guys not put off by this?

Having been a regular reader of his Herald column back when he was at MRC, I was one of Nenshi's earliest supporters in 2010 - that was the first political campaign I got involved in (admittedly, I was naïve enough to believe that a non-sleazy politician was something that existed in reality). Even I find this type of behaviour poor. Does it not bother you that he is acting entirely contrary to how he said he would act?

Both with respect only taking donations higher than $2,000 per person and soliciting donations from the real estate development community. On top of it, he calls critics "dumb" and bizarrely tries to justify the whole thing by saying he goes to a lot of community events.

Do the people running his campaign not realize how bad this looks? Or do they but just can't get through to him? I've always found him to be very arrogant but now he's also being downright insulting to the general public. There's no defending his hypocrisy on this issue as far as I'm concerned.

Your recollection of Mr wenzel's moment of fame is different than mine. I recall the recording featuring a description of how many Councillors they needed to change the voting patterns of the entire Council... With the aim to get certain changes favorable for development.

Nenshi doesn't have discussions with people. He lectures and tries to ridicule people who disagree with him.

When was the last time you spoke to him? Reality is, you have no faith in your stance. It is fully built on spewing contorted information anywhere - as long as it is a place that Nenshi is not and thus cannot respond. In effect, you are refusing to have a discussion with him and instead ridicule and slander him here under anonymity. A stance means it is something you'd stand for. You're not standing - you're just throwing rocks.

Who else wants to have Nenshi directly speaking / conversing at a forum meet up? Looks like Corndogger will not be up to it (though I hope he shows and says his mind - we all know he won't).

I've seen people trying to have conversations with Nenshi in a live setting and he refuses to listen to those that don't agree with him. Just because I refuse to bash my head against a wall doesn't mean I don't have faith in what I believe. I've never been against everything he's proposed but in this case I don't see how anyone can argue that he isn't being a total hypocrite. I'm the one who's being open-minded, not you. Nenshi staying in power must have a lot of value to you.

I responded to a phone survey tonight from Woolley's campaign. It was short but interesting. It specifically asked if you'd be okay with voting for someone who's been paid by developers in the past. Is such a person running against him this year? They also asked which issue you would be basing your vote on. I think there was seven choices plus "other." I can't remember them all but some of them were:

Safety/Crime
Economic opportunities
Supporting the arts
Green Line support
Pedestrian safety
Taxes

Anyone heard from other campaigns so far?
