The house would cost unbelievably inexpensive even in this day and age with inflation. You could get anything from them by mail back in the day, kind of like Amazon, except for perishable foods, but that's modern and needs freezers and air conditioners.
Funny thing is that these stoic companies refused to envision the future and now all of the " catalog shipping companies not on line are pretty much dead."
Its weird they couldn't buy out the Amazons of the world in the early days nor have the foresight to do so.
Many years ago Sears owned and occupied the Sears Tower in Chicago. The tallest floor building in North America since it was completed in the 70's.
