WU also just cut a bunch of positions and offshored them to India.

Not surprised. Years ago I owned a few shares and good timing allowed me to make some money to offset losses where my timing wasn't so good, lol. Point being that over the last decade there's been a number of new tech applications or internet transfer companies that have played havoc with that market. A market which they once dominated has now become much more competitive. While WU has kept pace and traded off their good name and reputation it is no longer the no-brainer cash cow it once was. Haven't really followed them for a few years but it's a good guess that a 'strategic alternative' may be in their future.

Good point. I see the effort to bring fortune 500 companies from out of state to be at best a temporary boon, offset by whatever tax breaks they got from moving here. These are mostly all established companies that aren't growing rapidly. I think growing the startup and venture capital sectors will have a better pay off.

While we already know of this project, the fences are up and it's kicking off. Interestingly enough, in the renderings on the fences, it appears we may get a second building out of this development on the REI side of 15th. The renderings of that building are a little more edgy and sleek. Loving how this would enhance the tired older building facing the Platte River. Oddly they don't have high res images on their website, but they are certainly advertising them at the site....sorry for the piss poor quality

One Belleview is easily one of the most dull and uninspired designs I've seen for a suburban midrise building. It's a shame Western Union's corporate image will be undercut by an extremely dismal headquarters building. Why is Plaza Tower One (the Chevron building) still the only building of interest in the southeast corridor beyond 30 years after its construction? Re/Max is really the only other quality design along I-25 I can think of, and possibly the CoBank building. Most of the 1980s era buildings still appear more streamlined and futuristic than the crap we're getting today.

Did a double-take and flashback to recall that Plaza Tower One could possibly be that old. Eh, the decades start running together a bit over time.

IIRC, One Belleview was financed by Goldman Sachs. I'm thinking they enjoy funding less-than-prime projects, more unique stuff like new car dealerships. While some of the new dealerships are impressive (thinking of Scottsdale) the location for One Belleview is, well, interesting for office space even with the LRT station. Fast forward in a good market and everything comes up roses - except for the plain Jane architecture.

Nice! Last I heard, the plan was to update the buildings facing the river, but this is much better.

Platte Street has made almost a full conversion to a dense urban extension of downtown after this. Time to bump up the height restriction allowance in Highlands! I vote for 8-12 stories....it's time.

All you'd have to do is more of U-MX-3 and U-MX-5 in LoHi. You could still achieve great human scaled density like that. A large portion of the neighborhood is single family detached, some of which makes sense like Potter Highlands, but overall a waste to have that east of Zuni

OZ Architecture seems to be doing the design work.

That building along the river next to REI. Are they renovating they existing building? I can't tell by the rendering. I always thought the 1980's addition to the brick building was an eye sore. The black glass and form that is completely unsympathetic to the historic building. This design is MUCH better.

Not a clue! Is it possible somebody had them taken down? I can't imagine so considering they're available out on the street, but I didn't touch them.

Love the look - MUCH MUCH nicer than the Gables Speer at Speer and Grant (located on a similar, triangle-shaped parcel). Would have loved it there.

Another 176 units are proposed in an 8 story building right next door on Logan.

What's interesting about the Gables is that I don't see any gables. It's just so bad.
