While I respect your take on them, they like many other tower in park designs are horribly laid out for an urban core. Plus aren't they saving one? Personally I don't find anything I like about them.

They were intending to, but it was torn down about two years ago. Ostensibly it was going to be too expensive to upgrade / retrofit the tower up to modern standards (read - not as profitable). Personally I think that the building should have been cleaned up and the site redone integrate it into the greater Regent Park redevelopment. The architecture was worth saving, IMO.

Well I for one don't miss them. Almost all of Moss Park is an utter mess.

The architecture was bastardized over the years and, like other developments are proving, it's hard to design around towers in parks. I'm fine that they were demolished. Dickinson had some strange idea with these towers. The balconies aren't balconies but emergency exits to allow trapped residents to break in to neighbouring apartments to escape.

There's dozens of these towers across the GTA. I don't mind them in comparison to the bland slab cut off on the right side of the photo. They just need to be cleaned up.

I was actually posting that pic because of the"bland cut off" ones. The brutalist apartment block was just a bonus ugg! Moss Park is full of horrible run down depressing looking buildings that don't work in an urban cores street grid very well.

I like the middle slab tower....it's a wall of warm colour that architecturally isn't too offensive, that I do walk by on occasion. The building on the left is unpleasant, but I'm indifferent to the right building, it's just generic 60's slab.

EDIT:

Just last Saturday...waiting for the bus, I saw a truck that was very suspicious...it was stopped at the intersection I was waiting on and I noticed something swaying on the back.....which turned out to be not just a metal ring to hoist up a car....but some black truck nuts right behind it. This is in Mississauga....I understand that there are industrial and commercial lowrise businesses nearby and all, but I wouldn't expect truck nuts to be coming around to an area that's only about 3 km from Mississauga's downtown.

Rednecks go to Toronto too, you guys. Some of them even drive there! Lots of people from Northern Ontario have relatives in the GTA. That could very well be where the truck nuts are from.

I could also be a hipster who is ironically driving a big truck with fake balls.

You make it sound like Mississauga is some sophisticated urban metropolis. Ugly trucks with balls can drive into the downtown of any major city. The roads don't block them.

Yea....nevermind. I guess I didn't expect there to be a whole lotta guys branding up on the *wonderful* tradition of truck nuts. It was a 4x4 pickup....black, fairly big lookin, I forgot which company produces those...Dodge? It sounds like it....
