EVs make up 1% of total car sales in Canada so it's probably not high on anyone's radar right now. It will be eventually I suppose.

Good thing we live in a country where 99.999999% of homes have reliable electricity connections.

Don't know about 12th and Main but 4th & Burrard might be a pretty high yield station with all the dealerships nearby filling up premium fuel. Or do they have fueling stations internally?

If we're to be Greenest City 2020, condo and apartment dwellers should be able to easily charge EV's in any building, developers should be required to install in a few in every new development, or better-yet, at every parking stall.

As a DT condo owner, I have little-to-no options to charge an EV and now almost no fossil-fuel options either. High-speed EV chargers should be everywhere by now, it would be a huge catalyst for urbanites to buy EV's and it's the #1 reason I hear from my clients and colleagues, as to why they're not already driving one.

I was surprised by this, since Cambie/16th is my local petrol station, and there have not been any "For Sale" signs on site. In fact I thought 2 weeks ago there was a crew, apparently doing upgrades there (signage?).

What's the plan for the site? Redevelopment? How long will they have to remediate that site? For such a high-value location, I would imagine they would expedite any work there.

Depending on the age of your building, your developer did actually create EV charging spots. However, developers do not seem to be required that these be vacant/unsold spots so either you were or were NOT allocated one. Also they generally just seem to have 120V receptacles, no special high voltage wiring/plugs.

The city should probably make sure that EV spots, like visitor parking spaces, and not allocated to specific units.

You are so right. Very informed indeed.

We can power electric model toy cars at 99.999999% of our households.

I think Macs/Circle K has a plan to have them outfitted into their existing Gas Station, alas they don't have a gas station presence here.

7/11 most likely has such plans to outfit their properties (Esso & pre-XON deal)

Ron.
Yeah agreed. I talked to our local electric car creator of Solo, Jerry Kroll, a couple of months ago and he said he was trying to get the City to install a charging station at every parking meter along roads, starting from the stretch in front of the Solo showroom at Meccanica, Olympic Village. That would be a good start, especially since condo owners without any EV charging at their parking stalls can have their cars parked overnight along roads to charge up.

I dont think I've ever seen a car with dealership plates filling up there, but that makes sense. It's also a rather small site.

Surprised Petro-Can has not looked at selling West 4th and Cypress, within blocks of the newer Petro-Can on burrard.

I know a lot of taxes use the west 4th location for the car wash.

That would be great and really help Gregor's Greenest City TM ambition.

Shame we don't have many EV charging sites, hopefully more once I start looking to upgrade.

Ron.

Why bother? How long does a person spend inside a gas station/ convenience store. 5 minutes at the max.

Have you seen the expansion and growth both shown by Couche-Tard & 7/11

Clearly money printers

More Chevron stations on the block.
From CBC August 17th, 2017:

Quote:
Within the next four to six weeks, Byrne says the other three will be shut down in anticipation of their sale:
- Broadway and Alma
- Cambie and West 59th
- West Fourth and MacDonald

These five gas stations have either closed or will be closing in the next four to six weeks. (CBC)

The existing stations must get busier due to the closures and hopefully at some point the increased revenue/traffic can justify keeping the existing stations open. Its not like gas guzzling cars will disappear instantly.

Yeah, how green is that?!

Ridiculous with 270,000 vehicles registered in the CoV that stations are being shut down so quickly to make a quick real estate buck.

I like how you insist on pinning this on the CoV somehow. Gregor is personally responsible isn't he?

If the Main & 1st Shell, and the various Burrard St. stations close, then North Vancouver would probably be closest from downtown.
