That's definitely the garage entry / circle drive.

turning the garage entry into a round about slows the speed of cars entering and exiting and makes it safer for pedestrians.

Here's a link to the MMPT video in case you want to watch the 2014 video and I gather preferred alternative.

I don't think the MMPT and the Gulch mixed-use / "entertainment" redevelopment are at all exclusive of each other. In fact I think they benefit one another. The MMPT always had mixed-use development above as part of the plan, and government subsidies for the private redevelopment of the gulch become more likely if you also have a public transportation hub underneath (not to mention additional built-in customer base)

Colony Square New Tower

Not sure if this is old, but I don't recollect seeing it before.

I agree this would be a best case scenario for the gulch. If this comes to fruition along with Newport and underground developments, proximity to Summerhill, memorial drive, Edgewood, streetcar extension to EST, Westside, and north Ave... there's so much going on in the area... I expect we see Downtown transition to being a top residential neighborhood in Atlanta in the not so distant future.

It's been in the previous plans/renderings- but this one looks like they tweaked the plan to accommodate the current public space at the intersection of 15th/Peachtree and made the tower taller.

Everyone, please sign this petition to stop Emory from demolishing the Industrial Life and Health Insurance Company Building. So tired of seeing historic buildings get demolished.

Done, but my goodness...this petition is as old as May 2016? How have we not heard about this before last week? With the demolition permits already approved I have a hopeless feeling about this one.

Planning permit filed at 937 Fielder to combine 5 parcels. The actual parcels front Northside drive north of 8th street. Currently some run down 1 story commercial buildings (Kingray tires, Oasis Spa).

It's hard to keep track of all of the projects on the Westside, but I don't recall anything being proposed here.

Combining the parcels into one makes it more marketable for sale/redevelopment. Either someone's been "quietly" assembling land in order to sell it or plans on developing it themselves.

So because it's been vacant, it should be torn down? What about revive/repurpose? That's the kind of announcement we'd like to hear.

When will this city learn? Atlanta's "Then and Now" book is extremely painful to look through because 90% of what we had THEN was better than what we have NOW. Just stop.

This would be a great location for a nice development. Would be preferable if 9th street is extended and the state started to implement more streetscaping and traffic signals to make it safer to cross.

Ponce City Market, The Georgian Terrace, The Biltmore, The Fox and The Ponce are examples of buildings that sat vacant, some for a number of years. I'm glad other people seem to have more vision than you since they have all managed to become great assets to their neighborhoods and the city.
While the Emory building isn't on the same level architecturally as these others, it's not a warehouse box either. With the installation of windows similar to the original ones, it too would be a neighborhood asset.

It looks awful, and with all the zoining requirements how could it possible be re-use. Just because its old it does not mean it need to be save.
