I checked out these towers on the weekend. Not too impressed. They almost look like they're from the '70's when driving west on 152nd.

But it's neat to be able to see them when crossing the border.

I'm from White Rock.

I think they look great. A bit of a nautical theme with the portholes on the North face which is maybe where you get the "70's" feel, but over all good design.

Once/if they commence & complete the second two towers this will be a great redevelopment of the area.

In addition if they commence & complete the Essence of White Rock development across the street this City of White Rock will have a fabulous new core hopefully bringing with it a great, new energy.

Great energy? You do realize that White Rock has the second or third highest percentage of people over 65 in BC, right?

Note: I am also from White Rock, and that city will never have energy.

Exactly... let's bring the age of the core down a couple notches... would be great if it could get below 60.

What's first? Abbotsford?

Those buildings are beautiful... I'd do anything to have those in Abbotsford.

I believe that Parksville/Qualicum Beach is first.

Completely agree. Densification is the only way you guys are going to escape rejoining Surrey, so better quit with the NIMBYism some of your fellow neighbours are expressing towards towers.

I love the design. I just wish Bosa would've learned that they were pricing the condos way too high. I suspect more towers will only come in if sales pick up again once the recession is over and that will rely on slashing the costs.

Neh, Bosa had no problems selling condos in the early 90s, they'll do fine.

This core will be quite something in 10-15 years, assuming the economy has a good recovery, with the completion of Miramar Village, Essence, and the redevelopment of Semiahmoo Mall.

Oh 2 other SSPers from White Rock ? High five guys
Yeah I hope they can pick up Essence and Miramar Village's expansion and possible some more medium-sized towers on Johnson Road. I'm surprised we were able to get the towers we got so far because of the strong NIMBYers in the area. Now we just need more buses... lol

Does anyone know if this new building named Avra is part of Miramar Village? I think there were supposed to be four towers in total and only two have been built so far. Avra is in the same area as Miramar, but I don't know if it's actually part of the development.

Avra's developer is listed as EPTA Properties (which I've never even heard of) whereas Miramar Village is by Bosa, so no, they're not part of the same development.

There was an article in the Peace Arch News a few weeks ago that sales will start again next year for the other 2 towers. There will be less retail than before due to the fact that the liquor store has moved to another location. Suites will also be smaller so that they don't have as much difficulty selling them. Additionally, current residents of the other two towers are being typical NIMBYs and complaining that the new towers will block their views - something that they knew when the bought their current suites (total facepalm). As usual, White Rock residents are also complaining that it will be too many residents for the area, putting stresses on the already busy streets.

Finally - no longer will that god-awful stripmall dominate one of White Rock's key intersections. Here's hoping the quality more closely resembles phase 1 than the spandrel-encrusted renderings.
