This says it would be the 4th tallest, but it's actually the 5th tallest. The Independent, The Austonian, Fairmont Hotel and 360 Condos would each be taller. Although, it will have the 3rd highest roof in the city. The Fairmont and 360 Condos both have spires.

If approved, the building at 300 Colorado St. would be the fourth-tallest building in the city's skyline

A 44-story, 315-unit luxury apartment skyscraper moved one step closer to taking the place of the one-story Sullivan’s Steakhouse at 300 Colorado St., Austin, after the city’s Design Commission approved the plans on Monday night.

The proposal now heads to the Historic Landmark Commission as the developer, Austin 3C Venture LP, has requested a demolition permit for the more-than-80-year-old, one-story, brick facade building that sits on the southern end of downtown’s Warehouse District.

Although the plans passed 8-1, commissioners voiced concern over the historic significance of the site. Though they said the Warehouse District is not an official historic district, commissioners said it is one recognized by longtime residents. Rather than demolish the structure—out of which Sullivan’s Steakhouse still operates—commissioners expressed a desire to maintain its character on at least the ground floor, which is planned to operate as a commercial space.

The Austin American-Statesman picked it up. This quotes the developer as saying that the tower might even grow from 62 floors to "the mid-70s range".

A San Antonio-based developer is planning a skyscraper in downtown Austin that would soar 850 feet high which, if built, would make it the city’s tallest building.

Lynd Development Partners is teaming with Dallas-based Lincoln Property Co. on the proposed mixed-use tower, which would be built at 600 Guadalupe St., Michael Lynd Jr., president and CEO of The Lynd Co., said in an interview with the American-Statesman.

The tower as currently designed has 62 stories, although ultimately there could be more, possibly up to the “mid-70s” range, Lynd said.

Austin's skyline to reach new heights: High-rise planned to reach more than 60 stories

Renderings emerged Friday of a skyscraper proposed for 600 Guadalupe St. in downtown Austin. Planned to soar more than 60 stories high — perhaps up to 75 — it would be by far the tallest building in the city.

Lynd told the Statesman that the development partnership aims to build "an iconic tower." The design is by Gensler Austin.

The skyscraper would have more than 500,000 square feet of office space and 300-plus luxury apartments, plus ground-floor retail, according to the Statesman.

I'll take this as is, but I really hope the developer goes ahead with the possible dozen or so floor increase they referenced in their announcement. Depending on whether the additional floors are residential or office, this could pass up the two supertalls in Houston and became the tallest building in Texas.
